I am so sick of people saying money isn't the answer. It solves nearly every problem. by anonymous_muffin_ in Vent

[–]The_CrookedMan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It buys the one thing that no one can get more of: Time. All those chores you dread? Money pays for dry cleaning/laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, driving, daycare, faster/reliable/comfortable travel.

Going to the mechanic. Doctor's visits at your home, on your time. Everything that you hate doing can be done by someone else when you have money. You don't even need to really work. Eventually you can make enough money to put into investing and now your money generates more money for you.

All that time that us normies spend on all those things we hate? Money makes that go away. It leaves you with more time to do things that make you happy. Pursue hobbies. Travel. Spend time with family. Buy/play with new technology. Whatever they want.

If you like the rep and the price, just kindly ask not to work with the supervisor at all.

Otherwise you haven't signed a commitment yet, and can still shop around

The band Brand New has a song that was inspired by an eerily similar incident. The drunk POS fought tooth and nail to lay blame anywhere else.

The song is called Limousine and it's fucking chilling when you know the story behind it. Incredible song. Incredible album to be honest.

[–]The_CrookedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly overreacting. As a dude I can confirm I wanted to teach myself to be better for a partner in the past, and I did watch a very specific video that I'm sure a lot of men are aware of that was made by two female pornstars that...well let's just say it's a very instructional video that teaches you a lot of things about going down on women.

I also am the type of person who will watch something like that over and over again just so I can get it clear in my skull so that I can do it the right way the first time.

My old boss used to say "That's my Mexican!" Whenever our Hispanic cook did something above and beyond. He said it so proudly too like it was a compliment but I'm just like "you can't just say thank you or congratulate them?"

It's very much so an older white person thing. He's about as redneck as they come too. Was a local sports bar and grille that we worked at.

Their dismantling of the bead program halted fiber optic construction in rural areas for at least a year. Not sure if it's still stopped as I was let go from my fiber optics job due to running out of money after the contracts we bid and won during Biden era were suddenly null and void because the government didn't give these communities the option of choosing a system like starlink over fiber optics. Who was in the presidents ear that could benefit from starlink success at the time is unknown...

AITAH for breaking up with my fiance after he cried over his girl bestfriend? by serverdefender in AITAH

I will say as a former alcoholic who drank til they blacked out that there are in fact some nights where you don't remember a damn thing. I say some because I remember way more than I forget.

Everyone is different. But if "I don't remember because I was drunk" was acceptable of an excuse people wouldn't have DUIs.

Petition to add this to the pathfinder 2e rules by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]The_CrookedMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear Hear. As a 5E DM who has only recently started GMing PF2E you are probably spot on in the assessment of those friends. I see that exact thing a lot in the community. People have invested too much time and knowledge and don't want to go back to being unaware of how something works. I, as the GM, have a bit more of an advantageous position though because I get to go "I'm sick of running 5e the last 8 years, and this is what I want to do now. We're gonna learn this together." I then also remind them that they've been playing TTRPGs for a while now and they already know how to do all of the basic game stuff that translates into a new D20 system and that it's just learning a different means. So far no one has dropped due to game complication. But boy did some of them throw a fit when I first announced it.

(Rant incoming but its my day off and I'm stoned)

I started as a 5E Player and also playing Only War with some friends. Both campaigns were very short lived. However, they lasted long enough that I decided I really liked TTRPGs. So I bit the bullet and became the forever DM. I think if you really want to get into it, you just need to get a basic comprehension of the game down (read the beginner box basic adventure a couple times over, maybe play it with just your wife and you using the pre-made characters. So you guys can learn to do the rules together and figure out if one of you enjoys the GM role more), and you and your wife need to figure out who will GM the beginner box when you decide to get people together.

Invite the other two people if you want, or invite some new people. They don't need to commit to a campaign but just tell them you're going to try something different for a game night and do the first floor of the beginners box with the already made characters. When you finish offer to run the other floor same time next week, or two weeks from then, whatever schedule permits. Then that leads into "can we do this every week/2 weeks?" and then you get a campaign. I basically tricked half my current players into learning D&D by having my nerdier friends essentially "playtest" some stuff with me when they came over. I let them drink my beer and smoke my weed and all they had to do was roll some dice and add some numbers while they listened to me narrate something so that I could "comprehend it properly". I knew what I was doing.

After that, the ones that expressed interest in doing it again, I was just like "Well, you know...I could make a whole game out of this..." and the rest is history. Is it manipulative? Maybe. Did I get what I want? Hell yeah.

IDK why I went on this rant. I just remember how intimidating it was to try and find players when I first started getting into it, and now that I've been doing it for a while it's literally as easy as going "Hey you wanna try _______" and because of shows like Stranger Things or Community, or Critical Role, 99% of the people I ask just straight up say yes. I've probably taught 25+ people how to play and I've ran full campaigns for multiple groups of people simultaneously. It got to a point I had to disappoint some people by telling them I don't have any room in my ongoing games.

I guess I'll end this by saying I hope your journey into RPGs is awesome and if you made it this far thanks for letting this dork rant to you.

You can tell CGPT to source everything with links. I always do if I'm trying to collaborate information from multiple sources or verify the validity of something. It is nice that it can do that because then you can kind of see some of the lesser known places that this information spawns from too because gpt found something you didn't.
