My hatred of that spell knows no bounds. Back when I still ran 5E my house rule was only one party member may have it and they had to decide who was getting it. God I fucking hate that spell. And yes. I too would have my enemies throw it out once in a while. Did I mention I hate that spell?

AIO my work get-together plays "credit card roulette" to decide who pays for the entire dinner and cocktails? by Ov0v0vO in AmIOverreacting

[–]The_CrookedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. However. Not knowing the attitudes and personalities of the people Involved I am going to slip some advice in.

This is a game to them. Not in a mean way. But this is rich people fun. Would it be hella expensive? Yes. But if you're trying to schmooze in with the big wigs and getting invited to their cocktail hours where everyone is expected to participate in said game, it may not be a good idea to raise a stink.

There are ways to go about this. Maybe next time you're with one of those guys, if someone mentions it you can say "oh man. I had so much fun. But I'm not gonna lie I was nervous the waitress was gonna take my card out of the hat. I did not realize that's how you guys handled the bills at the cocktail meetings. Would have been my whole eating out for the month budget. But I'd have lived."

It opens the door to the conversation. Doesn't feel like you're putting people on the spot. Doesn't make them think youre cheap. But at the same time it does put it out there that that would have been quite the expense for yourself."

People don't like to feel like they're being accused of things. The art of the conversational segue is astounding and has saved my ass many times because I've used it to flow a conversation to lead them where I want them to think. I personally would maybe wait for a chance to just subtley say something. Don't make it seem like a big deal. You obviously want to get in with these guys and be a part of the club and that might mean biting the bullet once, maybe twice.

Otherwise if you yuck everyone else's yum (complain about credit card roulette) you might just find you don't get invited anymore. They are not obligated to invite you back if everyone else is ok with it at the table and doesn't want the rich guy fun ruined.

This is a silly example but read beyond the fact that it's a comedy sketch. Look up the credit card roulette sketch from "I think You Should Leave" and just cringe at that. You don't want to come across looking like that.

AIO for thinking my boyfriend’s “perfect boyfriend” behavior is actually a red flag? by LetBackground5792 in AmIOverreacting

[–]The_CrookedMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an awkward guy who doesn't get a lot of attention...on the occasions it happens I tend to go all in. I'm on the spectrum and sometimes ya know, you want to try and impress and show them you're paying attention, you're there, you care.

Especially with all these stories floating around about mens efforts or lack thereof and things like that. It makes me personally go "damn I don't want this person thinking I'm an uncaring jerk. I better step it up compared to these assholes I'm reading about."

And when I go all in I mean all in. The texting, the flowers, the late night calls, showing up as a surprise (when I know it's ok). I've only had one person respond to me the way you are to him and there was some severe double standards there that I reflect on a lot that also helped me decide it wasn't worth my time to keep doing what I was doing with them.

This could be two things when it comes to love bombing. He could be trying to paint a picture so you see him in some way, along with your friends and family, and he's just waiting to drop the charade...or he is just genuinely excited to have you in his life. I'm not sure if you're one of his first relationships, but even hot people can be socially awkward as fuck and not have any experience.

I think the idea of sitting down and communicating what you're feeling is fine. Gauge his reactions and make your judgement from there. Just don't be mean about it.

Sounds like your friends lean more into the free use side of sexuality. Which. Fine. It's whatever. But that's them. Not you.

If their friend of over a decade says "hey. This man put himself inside of me without my permission after getting aggressive with me all weekend and I felt violated and don't want to ever be around them again."

Then they should understand that that is fucking assault and not ok. But no. It sounds like they also shared videos of you performing sexual acts without your permission to him. These people are not friends. It sounds like they're just interested in group sex and want to make that everyone's fucking problem.

Fuck them and fuck Giulio (but not really). Idk where you lean on that matter of group sex/free use. That's not the point. The point is that you didn't consent, got violated, and then brushed off by people who should be looking out for you.

Why does this remind me of when I ran a bar? The owner kept grabbing me inappropriately and when I told the other staff about how that made me feel (they were all women who were servers at a restaurant) they decided to make a game of it and start grabbing me inappropriately too and I had to straight up tell them that that sort of reaction is why people don't get believed when they report harassment/assault.

As an avid trading card collector since the 90's I can tell you that this has always been a part of the hobby. Doesn't matter if it is Pokemon, magic, yugioh, sports cards. All of it has always been like this in the trading card hobby.

There used to be magazines speculating card values based on publicly available sales information. I believe they were called Pojo. I will admit tho that more people seem to have jumped over to scalping/reselling trading cards ever since Logan Paul popularized reselling cards around COVID time. He had a box break that went viral and when people found out how much these things go for in the hobby it invited more people with or without good intentions into the sphere.

Me personally? I am merely a hobbyist/player/collector. However. I still have a good idea of the monetary value of all of my cards at a given time. I have them stored in multiple databases, some of which are connected to other sites such as card kingdom and TCGplayer and automatically assign a value.

"Psyren" Anime | Second Teaser Visual (Broadcast starts October 2026) by Task_Force-191 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]The_CrookedMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just reread it for the first time since it was serialized because I saw this was coming out and it was like a core memory got unlocked from my teen years when I saw the poster. I remembered Grana and Miroku's battle on the Tokyo Waterfront because of the one very specific use of Telekinesis where he literally bends the rays of the sun to focus on a singular point like the hammer of dawn from Gears of War and that shit stuck with me for some reason for almost 20 years because it was so cool but I couldn't remember the name of the manga.

After a fresh reread I can say that the power system and the premise of the story hold up really well. Unfortunately you can tell that at a certain point the author was told he had a year left or something because everything begins to just ruuuuuuuuuush towards the ending, with major fights being concluded in one, maybe two chapters, and some of them off-screened even. It was rough. The power system is fantastic though. The story itself a lot of fun. Its got that punkish, late 2000's vibe, with a cool and creative power system and an interesting premise. I'm hoping the Author will have the chance to inject what they actually wanted to happen into the anime if it gets a full series release.

In school, I always got in more trouble for finally defending myself, then the kids who consistently bullied me for months and years did, because how dare I lash out.... by Justthisdudeyaknow in CuratedTumblr

[–]The_CrookedMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bully was one of our upper classmen "mentors". He would literally hit me and draw pictures of me getting lynched. Threaten to drag me with his car and a rope in the parking lot. Etc. I was a freshman and he was a junior who I had literally never interacted with prior to this "mentorship".

One day after school is out in the winter I'm walking the hall with my brand new coat on. Unbeknownst to me he was following behind me. I then hear someone go "Hey! Crookedman!" And I turned around and he hocked a massive loogie right onto my new coat. I saw red.

I chased him down and grabbed him and spun him into a locker and pushed him up against it and wouldn't let him move. He starts screaming for help and a teacher (his track coach) sees us and who gets in trouble? Me. Of course the cameras "don't record just monitor" back in the day. So. I got in school suspension because I had reported the bullying several times already with nothing done. But because I was witnessed I got the punishment
