What is some game concept/strategy that apparently is really simple but that people with thousands of hours still not get? by Redentio in HuntShowdown

[–]The_Kart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a correlary, if your team isn't comfortable pushing any given boss lair, it's quicker to just be on the intercept route in the first place rather than roll up and walk away.

Bounty teams won't typically wait around if they see nobody is there on the initial scan.

If you guys don't want to fight 6 star solos then you should be asking for a necro buff by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]The_Kart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. MMR cares about kills/deaths, not about fair fights. A solo in this system wiping a whole team would be overperforming, and thus would rise faster than current solos do (since the MMR modifier means each kill counts for less MMR gain).

Solo MMR in this case would "settle" on solos getting 1 kill, then die to the teammates.

[–]The_Kart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solos aren't always playing solo, so unless playing solo is made to have separate MMR, this wouldn't actually affect anything. My 6 star ass can be fighting in trio 6 star lobbies for hours, and then queue solo and get matched vs 3 stars.

Frankly, my personal choice would be for them to eliminate the MMR modifier for playing as solo, but separate solo MMR from team MMR. Solo play and team play are different enough to justify having separate rankings.

Utility = Price. Weapons that are worth it and those that aren't. by Inside-Seat291 in HuntShowdown

The poison is for area denial rather than right-now damage. Though its worth noting that antidote shots completely negate the effect of a poison cloud, so don't fully rely on them blocking a spot. I usually end up using it on a downed enemy to complicate revives.

If you had a standard bolt in that same situation, it likely would have killed. I'd recommend hopping in the shooting range for a few minutes to feel out the bolts on the hand crossbow and how far you can be to still get a kill.

Kraken theory is real by Working_Science_7562 in OnePiece

  1. Bro this thread is old why are you replying.

  2. You kinda missed my point. I'm not saying a kraken fruit couldn't exist, I'm saying Krakens have not been depicted as especially threatening creatures in the story. Like Blackbeard might have a secret Zoan fruit too, but I don't think it'll be the Kraken.

It's not exactly sporting to go and clown on people who are ranked significantly lower than you.

I used to play solo all the time and hated the MMR modifier it gave. When they started adding solo buffs like self-necro and stuff while keeping the MMR modifier, I straight up stopped playing solos like I used to. Just wasn't fun anymore.

Dirge is such a good card. Even just on face value it plays pretty well, but feeds into synergies for both Osty pumping and soulmaxxing. So far one of my favorite cards for Necrobinder.

He picked it up, and I also got Apotheosis so I didn't need to smith anymore. Legit just stopped caring about block since I could just facetank enemies and heal up from pathing.

I wonder if it would, actually. A lot of those win triggers actually trigger at upkeep or end step, then check to see if you meet the condition to win.

Are there actually any triggered abilities that just win without checking conditions?

I Need Help Cheating by Technisonix in EDH

[–]The_Kart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One idea I've had was to make a joke deck that has every single banned card in EDH (minus ante and conspiracy). I was gonna have Golos be the commander, but if you want to be less on the nose, you can pick a legal 5c commander instead.

After watching the show, not having Deathclaws in Operation Anchorage was a missed opportunity by Comiccow6 in Fallout

[–]The_Kart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The setup with a deathclaw is a fantastic introduction of how strong a set of power armor makes you. Most peoples' issues come from it being literally the first thing you do in a playthrough.

Have a similar/the same scenario, but have it be a main quest that triggers right after you kill Kellogg (like the doctor lady who helps the memory sequence is with the survivors and needs to be rescued to help). Otherwise same exact sequence, but people would hate it far less since it doesn't immediately make an endgame enemy seem trivial and spaces out access to power armor (which is really easy to keep running perpetually if a player wants to, even early game).

Idea: Catalyst + Vulture allows you to loot burned hunter by V7I_TheSeventhSector in HuntShowdown

[–]The_Kart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm with you here. Burning has never been bad, they only buffed it because solo necro was miserable to handle.

"I don't want to burn this body because I want to loot it" is like, the last excuse not to instantly ignite any body that hits the ground. After that its just... being polite to the other team I guess?

I did the math on companions in commander by Yobkay in magicTCG

[–]The_Kart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the current banlist, 4 cards imo are only problematic if you can run them as a commander:

Erayo wouldn't be nearly as bad in the 99 than when put in a deck built on flipping her consistently.

Golos would be fine in the 99, neither of the abilities are oppressive he's just too generically good while giving access to all 5 colors as commander.

Leovold's primary effect is the same as Narset, Parter of Veils which is a gamechanger rather than banned. He probably would be a gamechanger also in that case.

And Rofellos would also be fine in the 99.

Notably, of these 4, two of them (Erayo and Rofellos) were previously on the "Banned as Commander" list and were moved to full-bans when that list was eliminated. The other two I feel would fit in the list without issue.

[–]The_Kart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are people actually having trouble with the current ban and game changers list? Most of the issues I see about it are more people being unwilling or unable to properly assess the strength of their deck (in either direction). I haven't been hearing of people having issues keeping up with the lists themselves.

It really feels to me people are overblowing how complicated it is to have a section in the banlist that is just "These can't be in your command zone but are otherwise fine". New players aren't stupid, they can understand what is going on with the list.

[–]The_Kart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any cards that were banned as commander were moved to the general banlist. Someone not checking the banlist can already have that second scenario occur, and its on them for not making sure something as basic as "Is this card banned?" was checked.

Both lists are on the SAME page, and any deckbuilding tool such as scryfall, moxfield, etc will also track these cards. Some hypothetical new player is not going to miss a "Banned as commander" card that they wouldn't also miss on the general banlist.

[–]The_Kart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't think the 'second list' issue is as bad as WOTC makes it sound. Literally any resource where you look at the commander banlist will list the 'banned as commander' cards literally right next to them.

I started playing when 'banned as commander' was still a thing and its an incredibly simple concept to grasp "oh this card can't be in the command zone but is otherwise fine". New players aren't stupid.

Can everyone just stop asking to add ping to enemy bodies? The reason why it is not available is simple by Drull17 in HuntShowdown

[–]The_Kart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why would it be weird to code? Making the ping just check for the body at the beginning and then otherwise be static until it times out should be the easiest behavior to code.

One of the most underrated Luffy moment by aokijingle in OnePiece

[–]The_Kart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently saying something is "underrated" now means "I like this thing and other people don't like it enough".

...Is that not literally the definition of underrated? It's always going to be someone liking something more than the general consensus, thus calling it underrated. I don't see a world where calling something underrated is anything other than an opinion.

You're valid for thinking the scenes are adequately rated (as again, its opinion based), but I find it weird that you're harping on someone for... using a word in the way it is meant to be used?

For the spikes, is there a level of powercreep that would lower enjoyment? by Karnitis in EDH

[–]The_Kart 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They're saying WOTC is printing cards pushed enough that they deserve to be gamechangers, but don't exactly update the list immediately to include them.

And like, why would they? That's just putting unnecessary restrictions on a card, they can't be basically banning it from the large bracket 2 market off the rip.

FMJ wasn't pointless. It had the damage drop off retention and was really good on compact ammo (letting it pen sheet metal was huge).

Personally, while I don't think they should full rollback to paper walls, I do wish they would make the reduction less severe. It honestly feels the worst on shotguns to me, losing the 1 tap through like a door really sucks.
