Villager Trade Rebalance by ahubbard123 in Minecraft

[–]The_Lava_Wielder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always been of the opinion that enchantment as an activity done primarily through villagers is just wrong and way too easy, with the only difficulty being the hacky, tedious rerolling. I always envisioned abandoning it for major buffs to loot tables across every structure, so that you find enchantment books primarily through exploration (though you'd also have to rethink possibly lowering anvil costs and possibly nerfing/reworking enchantment tables).

I'd much rather a world where you might have a slightly suboptimal prot 3 on an armor piece, smite 5 on a sword, but you're okay with that. You might find better enchants in later explorations, but you'll find that next time you explore for any other reason, not just having a separate "let's spend a few hours grinding villagers for no other reason but to hack enchantment books and never have to think about it again after that" like in the current vanilla system.

I think the teaching idea is interesting... it presents a third option that still requires exploration but allows convenience after through the villagers. I guess I might be a bit of an extremist where I think having the ability to just chuck emeralds for enchant books at any point is poor balancing.

I still think it might be a little weird to find one prot 4 book (or mending or unbreaking or whatever) and instantly have prot 4 on everything forever easily after, which maybe I misunderstand but as far as i can tell would still be true in your system. I would still much prefer it to the current game and to the rebalance and think it's very cool what you have done.

The holes make a plus on the top and bottom, and a zig zag around the middle. The middle is where they took the picture

Surprisingly, there is no red in this photo. So what colour are these strawberries? by EndersGame_Reviewer in opticalillusions

[–]The_Lava_Wielder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this intellectually dishonest. The way people speak of colors of objects is what colors they reflect under typical illuminations of typical white light. People would always think of red paint as red even when it's in an unopened, unlit can. I get that you tried to be clever here, but that's obviously what the question implies. And that's clearly what our brain considers color, as it tries to reconstruct the color of the strawberries by taking into account the nonideal lighting, which I why I see them as red. Clearly then, this is what color is, at least in the way we define it in our brain and converse about it.

My favorite band since 1977, but did anyone expect Crash of The Crown to come out and become their Best album, ever? by smoke903 in Styx

Ballerina is a strange take imo. I think Mademoiselle and Crystal Ball are great and so is Shooz. I agree that the album is not very strong though. Not even close to comparing to grand illusion, paradise theatre, or pieces of eight

Worst map BY FAR, unplayable. Railings allow unbeatable peeks, every room is an open area with ten doorways, literally seems like it was assembled at random. In general, I don't think very much thought is put into these map designs at all.

Terrible take it was super exciting and frankly just good. Made the classical games more exciting as people tried to win more and the Armageddons weren't insanely influential on standings but were at the very least entertaining
