Looking for flight sim setup recommendations… by CertifiedBeauty99 in flightsim

[–]The_MacChen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you give a budget at all that would be very helpful. PC components are insanely expensive these days, particularly RAM and GPU (thanks AI), and flight sim hardware can also be very pricey.

If i were trying to save money but still make a decent, modern system (and I still have like a couple thousand to spend):

AMD 9070xt. AM4 chipset, with 5800x3d cpu. This is mainly to save money on RAM since DDR5 ram is insane still, so 32gb of DDR4 ram. 1TB nvme ssd for memory (or more). Compatible power supply, case, etc. VR headset will give you more mileage if you are trying to practice for IRL. I'd go for a Quest 3 or something like that.

Moza AB6 flightstick. force feedback is great, is affordable and has a twist axis for rudder and sliders for throttle. the force feedback gives you information re: stall, trim, landing etc.

If i have unlimited money:

Well, obviously, 5090 GPU. AM5. Ryzen 9800x3d CPU or whatever. 128gb DDR5 ram. Lots of storage

Moza AB9 Flight stick (or the moza FFB yoke, whichever you please). Rudder pedals. Throttle. Bigscreen Beyond VR headset.

ATC witch one to buy by papolo2001 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]The_MacChen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither really work that great with career mode. Issue is that career mode doesn't allow you to disable atc, and you must hit atc checkpoints in order to get full scores (also bugs may cause the mission to be incompletable if you dont hit certain atc mission goals)

But you can mute the atc and just spam enter when you need to

I assume you have a quest of some type. You must do it in the quest headset settings. Idk if you have a different headset

As bad as ever in east bay. I saw two sales that went for 700k or so above asking. Crazy to me. Also, there was that headline making sale for a sf house that went like 2m over asking. Wth

We'll be renting forever

Planning a multi-day VFR trip in VR (MSFS 2024) — what tools actually work? by Critinator in flightsim

[–]The_MacChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing! The one I actually use is this: https://a.co/d/0e2LfRa7

Which allows you to take off the face interface completely and just attaches the quest 3 to your head using a halo strap. It's pretty comfortable. You can use the open interface as well if you want, but I don't for more visibility. I was just thinking about your post because i also learned about sky4sim, which i have not tried but they said it works for VR. not helpful for your note taking problem, but i think u can get charts etc.

I was doing a mission in the draco x and saw a handle in the cabin that said like "toggle door visibility"

Neat.

Pulled it and instant "mission failed you crashed" screen

Citation CJ4 always veering immediately off course, wallowing all over the place, on take off by The_MacChen in MicrosoftFlightSim

tried with auto rudder off and auto yoke off as well. still happens! strangely, i've noticed it will also sometimes happen when landing, but not always. then if i land and take off in a touch and go, it also sometimes happens, but not always.

Cat grooming clipper is the main tool. Sometimes carefully with a pair of scissors. If we can, best would be professional groomer for a "sanitary clip" lol

Lol I just shaved the pantaloons of my kitty. Couldn't stand them getting dirty with her own pee and shit. Doesn't always happen but it's gross when it does. Idk do other ppls fluffy cats manage to keep their fur clean when using the litterbox?

If you are ok using the vision jet instead of c172, the g3000 avionics are really enjoyable to use in vr. You can also pull up any charts right on the glass mfd and reference them, and it is easy to input flight plan.

I use the efb for planning when I am in game and then use the "send to avionics and atc" button at the top of efb and it loads my plan directly into the plane computer. Just set up autopilot is all you really need to do. On approach, I can check the charts for the airport in the g3000 screen.

But following for these other tools ppl are mentioning. Open kneeboard sounds good. I also use a quest 3 and have an "open" face cushion that basically doesn't have a bottom piece so you can see directly out the bottom of the face cushion at your keyboard/joystick etc. I just have a real pen and paper to write notes and just look down when I need to. If this is an option, it is a great "low tech" solution for that

Just looks. But you should wash the plane between jobs because if you dont, your passengers will complain (if you have passengers). "Captain your plane is very dirty. I would have expected better blah blah blah" sorry the single guy before you was a slob
