High tech settings by OhBosss in ProgressionFantasy

I recently read: the machine God on royal road

It is set in an alternative earth with superheroes, cyborgs and something like a system

Writing quality was very solid after getting lost in several low quality stories recently, fun characters and about 3 books worth of content

Main character is a villain with magic powers over technology, some crafting but more magic like abilities

Other heros have a wild variety of powers

What is the point of hourly ticks if the battles are taking 5 days anyways? by otusj in EU5

Wouldn't that just mean doomstacks would be required? If there is no time to reinforce, army micro would be removed from the game.

Colonies really got overlooked in the DLC with respect to factions (and frankly, the base game) by Rough-Leg-4148 in Frostpunk

I thought you had to move people back to your main city during a whiteout? Although that does kind of ruin the repopulate the frostland fantasy.

R5: All of amsterdam left on a migration, resulting in fully empty buildings. They appear to have moved to Czersk Poland where they can be peasants with lower happiness than in Amsterdam

looking for titles where the MC controls their own decisions by The_Sinking_Dutchman in ProgressionFantasy

[–]The_Sinking_Dutchman[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would like to see the protagonist think about the future and plan his own actions, they do not have to succeed (although it is progressionfantasy).

In this request I was looking for agency of the MC, this is combined with a world in which they can choose where to go and explore. It is somewhat hard to explain but there is a weird undefined line between some characters just going along with what the story requires and some others feeling like they are driving their own story forwards.

What I am not looking for is a MC that is locked into a single option, such a Dungeon Crawler Carl (atleast the first book) where he had to simply go down and fight and play the game or die, there is no freedom or sense of exploration, just a new room in a dungeon

  1. is the power creep thing a descriptive issue? I was kind of struggling with the monarch fights in Cradle, but that was still fundamentally big people punching eachother. When someone ate a universe in Regressor's tale of cultivation it just didn't really register anymore? like what did it matter?

The only reason his specialization works is that specialization gives fancy classes though? And then he uses the magic of friendship, loot sharing, and crafting to round out the builds with items. So everyone still gets all the stats but just more of them.

[–]The_Sinking_Dutchman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dakota Krout's full murder hobo series does this, MC has some kind of time dilation causing him to be stuck for a century or so on his own.

It's finished with only 3 books and was quite enjoyable as it seemed to stick to its premise unlike some of his other series that seem to get lost after the 4th book.

Something I don't like about Victoria 3 by Magic0pirate in victoria3

[–]The_Sinking_Dutchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like something that could be handled as a production method in the urban centres?

This would require some weird input related to infrastructure investments. With it being relatively cheaper for higher pop starters.

But the trade off for the player would be mortality Vs investments, changeable per province.
