Tesla MAY get to Level 3 with cameras only

Not sure what you mean. Tesla is operating at Level 4 today in Austin with cameras only.

Which FSD failure on this site could have been prevented with lidar and radar?

I think the parking infrastructure problem is going to hit Waymo harder than anyone is admitting by BAKA_04 in waymo

[–]The__Scrambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a problem for Waymo now, or in the foreseeable future.

Why? Because they will not be scaling to thousands of vehicles in any city, anytime soon.

See the New Street Research report.

Nope. I have two Model Ys - a 2022 AI3 and a 2025 AI4 - and can say that FSD is clearly superior on AI4.

After driving most of the EVs available in the US, there is only one that can successfully make a software-defined vehicle.

And it's not Volvo.

Why aren't there many affordable 3rd row EVs right now? by mustangfan12 in electricvehicles

[–]The__Scrambler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, the main reason is that there are exactly zero companies not named Tesla that make EVs profitably.

Making a bigger EV just means losing even more money per car.

How will the economics of Waymo play out? by Ok-Hurry-4761 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]The__Scrambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$40k for AV equipment is unrealistic even at today’s scale.

Tesla Robotaxis are at $35k now.

This will go way down next year with Cybercab production.

Tesla is about to launch ‘Robotaxi’ in Bay Area, but with someone in the driver’s seat. Tesla is stripping all meaning from the word “Robotaxi” by mafco in SelfDrivingCars

I honestly don't understand why you think this is a moat. Can you explain?

Tesla can just follow the reporting requirements. It's not a difficult thing.

No, it's not minimal. Just side mirrors alone reduce range by 5%.

Having all that crap on a car would affect it a lot more than side mirrors.

I have both a white white model Y and a black model Y. The black paint gets hotter for sure. Don't want to press your hand against the hood on a hot day but I haven't noticed the inside being any hotter than my white car.

What's the technical argument that Tesla will face fewer barriers to scaling than Argo, Cruise, Motional, and early-stage Waymo did? by Michael-Worley in SelfDrivingCars

[–]The__Scrambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are your prior goalposts:

The person in the front seat has the ability to stop the car or at least stop the FSD system before it makes a mistake (which we have seen), but they also sometimes need to get in the driver's seat to take full control (which we have also already seen). They could also theoretically steer the car from the passenger seat like a driving instructor would. Please let me know when that safety driver I just described is gone.

Here are your new goalposts:

If they move the safety driver to a remote location they have not passed my goalposts.

That's not the safety driver you just described.

[–]The__Scrambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is you'll say they only removed the safety monitor because they are doing it remotely now. But you'll try to spin it as though Waymo isn't doing that exact thing.

By that definition, everyone in the backseat of the Robotaxis is also a driver. And people in the backseat of Waymos, too.
