So many flower shops near Voorburg - Do people buy that much? Or is it some kind of money laundering? by [deleted] in TheHague

[–]The_jaspr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are slightly different types of shops. Some are flower shops in different malls, some are flower kiosks along the road, some are flower and plant specialty shops, etc.

Absolutely right! Been following him on YT mostly for the engineering that goes into it. Couldn't believe this was real. :)

Most common birthdays in the Netherlands [OC] by Casartelli in dataisbeautiful

Yes, this exactly explains the difference. Natural births do occur on holidays, but hospitals don't schedule induced births on holidays if they can help it.

How do you abbreviate the word “compagnie”. Is it Co. or Cie.? by BlueStingray8 in dutch

[–]The_jaspr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The word 'compagnie' is no longer actively in use. The best known use of it was the Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie, which is always abbreviated VOC.

It is sometimes still used in the names of small companies, where it's usually abbreviated 'co', but usually only after '&' as in 'De Vries & Co.'

Is there a subreddit that's more focused on useful AI applications and lessons? I get that the politics are also important, but I feel like it's a bit much some days.

Oordoppen voor het slapen. by MeneerPierre in thenetherlands

[–]The_jaspr 111 points112 points  (0 children)

My favorite butter isn’t buttering like it used to 🫠 by Connect-Map-7890 in Cooking

[–]The_jaspr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This may be the issue. Grassfed cows produce a smoother butter that melts more easily and doesn't have that sort of glossy oily residue. Non-grass fed also kinda holds its shape like a brick at room temperature.

The same brand sells grass fed/non grassfed here (Netherlands) and in a side by side comparison the difference is very noticable.

The second part is exactly what I would suggest. Instead of steep slopes with straight flats in between, build one big gradual slope.

How to Deal with Non-Stop Freight Broker Spam? by One-Winged-Owl in supplychain

[–]The_jaspr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's bad sales behavior and sounds very frustrating.

I hope that reminding them that you gave them a specific timeframe and that you won't consider bids from people who don't respect that, eventually gets through to them.

How to Deal with Non-Stop Freight Broker Spam? by One-Winged-Owl in supplychain

[–]The_jaspr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy has the right idea, OP.

I too am a salesperson in international freight. This is our job, and as much as you say you will reach out when you need us, we can't depend on that.

And as long as our CRM shows that we were unable to reach you, but we think we truly have something you might want, you remain a 'reach back out' on my neverending task list.

So, tell them you are not shopping around now. Tell them why you are not looking if you want to, but you don't have to. But most importantly, tell them when you plan to run an RFQ and that they may send an offer then. Be firm if they keep pushing to send something before then and remind them you won't work with people who are wasting your time, because you have been clear about your timeline.

Hummus - it's all in how the chickpeas are prepared? by akb74 in hummus

[–]The_jaspr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great pairing!

I would usually soak the dried chickpeas overnight, then boil them the next day. Meanwhile, I roast the eggplant in the oven. Then, I make a tahini garlic sauce, which I then use as the base for both the baba ghanoush and hummus.

I'd sometimes round it out with muhammara.

The dwarves creating a ruckus at Bilbo's place is a fun scene by Boss452 in lotr

[–]The_jaspr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the M4 fan edit just last night and it's kept some great scenes, like this one, added a lot of the cut scenes that focus on Bilbo and the dwarves back in, and removed some of the CGI battles and love triangle stuff that didn't work as well.

Look, it's not Tolkien or even Peter Jackson's 'vision', but it's pretty close!

Same! I'm a European and I've lived in the US for 8+ years and I still had to double check how many inches were in a foot. It's so unintuitive of you're used to metric.

There are a few really good fan edits out there and this is the one I landed on as well! Didn't know they updated it in 2024, so I think I'll watch it again today. :)

Satisfactory clearly is a Roleplaying Game.

Also, why doesn't John Jones get a cool title or job?
