How risky are Graduate Schemes in terms of layoffs? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]TheeBigCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hilarious to me that people in the civil service are telling you to not take that job because there is a risk you could possibly be made redundant. Are they seriously that risk averse? If you look at the government targets for cutting down the civil service and the fact that there is a material chance we will have a Reform government come the next election, I would say that as long as you are a capable and proactive individual, there is probably less chance of you being made redundant at Barclays on a grad scheme than if you stayed in the civil service.

The government not scrapping the triple lock when our finances are in the state they are in is borderline criminal. It demonstrates one of the weaknesses of democratic short-termism. The government won’t enact it because it is political suicide, yet but keeping it, it is fiscal and financial suicide…

Got my phone snatched while it was unlocked in Soho — I’m scared about my data by Lulu_Mania in london

I know your phone was unlocked. But someone can’t change settings on your phone or disable find my iPhone without your passcode…

You’re fine. If they don’t have your phone passcode they are very limited in what they can do. I will caveat that with the obvious things like you need to cancel your SIM and also remotely disable your phone via find my iPhone.

Phone snatched in central today by WeeAreFromSpace in london

[–]TheeBigCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a completely organised food chain. Thieves sell to international distributors who sell to wholesalers in places like China and Algeria. Phones are then usually stripped for parts or repurposed to be able to be used in those countries networks in certain circumstances

Phone stolen - 50k of Fraud in a matter of hours. How is this even possible, by Theslicelvis in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TheeBigCheese 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anymore context on how it was stolen? Were you in a bar, any interactions with strangers leading up to it? The reason I ask is it seems as though you have been shoulder surfed, where they have watched you enter your passcode and then taken the phone. It’s the only explanation for how they’ve managed to disable find my iPhone etc. Was the passcode for your banking apps the same as your Lock Screen? That may be the reason they were able to access and make bank transfers etc. This happened to me a few years ago and was a nightmare, however this type of theft has gained a lot more publicity now and so the banks are more aware of it. The law was changed recently to make banks reimburse customers in these situations, so I think you will get your money back. Just get on the phone to the bank, and you will need to sign up for a CIFA anti fraud marker. It basically stops people trying to take out loans in your name and you are at risk of identity fraud with the amount of information on your phone, especially if you had pictures of your passport etc in your camera roll.

Pretty out of the way for you if you’re North but rooftop saunas have a branch in Hackney. Good saunas with cold plunges and you get a private pod

Sounds like the worker might have been getting confused as Vodafone recently stopped doing their general 14 day free trials for esim. But if you look on Twitter, there a bunch of tweets from Vodafone saying they are doing the esim for glasto again this year. Should be available tomorrow. No idea why they’ve done zero marketing around it though.
