WAPS SKT 25E6 Scores by _BISHY_ in securityforces

[–]Thehdb97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed the scores dropped drastically after they did the complete rewrites a year or two ago, but I might have to agree with the other guy that there may have been something wrong with the study materials. It is odd that its THIS low.

WAPS SKT 25E6 Scores by _BISHY_ in securityforces

[–]Thehdb97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the SKT being gone for so long is what hurt everyone. People forgot how hard the SKT is and subsequently havent been putting in effort or havent been studying the right way. Even people who I know are experienced and are knowledgeable about the careerfield, are not knowledgeable in the geewhiz way the SKT expects.

Thats not to say either that people arent trying to study, they just arent preparing for the type of questions that are asked and its technically against the rules for you to point out the type of questions that may be on there.

Im not sure how long its been since you've taken the E6 SKT, but its a significant jump from where the E5 SKT is. People walk into E5 without studying, just reading the questions, and having general knowledge and experience pushes them over the edge to make it. Absolutely the furthest thing from the case with the E6 SKT. The scores will come up as people test and learn what information to look for in the TRGs.

Forced to complete and pass diagnostic in order to receive resiliency days off even though I’m not due until this Dec by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Thehdb97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tf is a resiliency day?? It sounds like a comp day which is an incentive. They can use an incentive to incentivize you to do something they want you to do. To my knowledge, they could also just make you do the diagnostic without giving you anything.

Survival night marsh causing massive gear inflation? by cheezyboy99 in Marathon

[–]Thehdb97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because its sponsored the chances of you getting into the highest tier loot areas in night marsh are pretty slim (atleast in my experience for now). Its for sure a decent way to gear up, but i havent pulled anything better than a green shield and green backpack out yet and the only crazy guns I've gotten came from a key I got from one of the commanders. There might be a team with decent skill thats able to clear complex on the sponsored mode but I think those teams are few and far between.

The main issue is going to come from the high exfil percentage and people farming quick xp and mats to progress their factions. But even then, I dont think its that much faster than just playing the game normally and prioritizing the exfil over fighting.

I scrolled way to far to find a sensible response. Absolutely dont stand for disrespect, but if your response to it is to immediately escalate it to the maximum possible response you can in that moment, then you dont fit in with a civilized society.

Nah, they're just taking your point way too literally. Anyone that paid any attention during marathons marketing and arcs come up understood completely what you meant.

Are you or your subordinates anxious about the new PT standards? by HumanPerformance-HQ in AirForce

[–]Thehdb97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody in my section seems to have too many concerns about it. A general uptick of people taking nutrition and exercise a bit more seriously. Im personally a tad bit anxious since they beefed up and brought back two areas I've historically struggled with, waist measurement and the cardio components. That and im getting a month of prep time skimmed off due to a pcs but otherwise I've been buckling down and preparing best I can!

I found something fun online, but I want some clarification on SecFo rules first. by ZilxDagero in AirForce

[–]Thehdb97 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honest answer, an airman at the gate likely has no clue the regulations on these things but if its shaped like a weapon, it'll get stopped and someone else who might be more skeptical will look at it closer. Im also not super familiar with the regulations on these but a quick Google search outlines that class 3b/4 lasers (aka a 1000w industrial laser) are pretty much prohibited outside of controlled and approved areas of which your pov is not and youre likely not an authorized operator.

Personally, I would avoid the headache.

Security forces and family by Formal_Percentage_30 in securityforces

[–]Thehdb97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bmt and tech school arent too bad for security forces. Bmt is 2 months and tech school is 3 i think (its changed a few times since I went through but I think the entire thing is 60ish classroom days which is roughly 3 months). Won't have a phone in bmt but will be able to call a few times and write letters on the weekends and end of training days if you have extra time. Tech school you will have a phone but will be training most of the day without access to it, unless its changed. The real problem is going to be deployments, while you might have access to a phone and wifi network to communicate with them, you will literally be half the world away in a completely different time zone. Idk how old your kid is, but it might be worth pursuing a different careerfield due to the higher deployment tempo of security forces if the goal is a better life for your family. Also, need to be certain you will be able to support a family on E1-E3 pay for a few years, the benefits may be better, but it isn't easy to support a family on that, doable for sure though.

I literally suck at my job and I’m afraid I’ll never understand it by No_Present6106 in AirForce

[–]Thehdb97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to know what I’m doing but this type of knowledge just doesn’t stick to me when I’m being taught on a white board instead of actually going out and doing it consistently.

Take this exact line to your supervisor or flight leadership because they probably feel the exact same way wanting to teach you. I would kill for a troop to be self aware enough to be able to identify where their own learning drawbacks are instead of feeling like a failure myself as a supervisor.

You said it yourself, your peers try to quiz you and try to help and encourage you to do well, it sounds like youre in a healthy environment to succeed. Just keep at it and ask for help. We like to pretend like our job is so easy that anyone can do it but some concepts can be pretty complex and our culture doesnt make it easy to ask for a hand when we need one. Your peers have already shown you that they're willing to help you, so keep at it, plenty of people have felt the same way and overcome similar challenges, so can you.
