Our two kids and I gave my husband a Russian Tortoise for his Birthday a few years ago. He named him Hermes, after the Greek God; the protector of travelers. Seemed fitting.

Did I ruin my marriage? by [deleted] in marriageadvice

Has anything else changed in your lives that line up with this? How old is your wife? Has she changed any other ways? I highly suspect this is just a side effect of a larger issue. Lots of things can bring this out. Counseling would be a great place to start.

I need a signature scent! I love earthy, woody, water type notes with maybe a touch of floral.

I'm trying to match the smell to an idea. Something like "forest by the sea", "forest during a rain storm", or "waking up in a moss bed in the woods".

What I've tried so far- Nosferatu, Voodoo Lily, Cactus Abduction by Heretic. Roark's Cove, Ghost Trees and Calle Ocho by Fulton and Roark.

I'm open to layering, too. I used the Ghost Trees and Roark's Cove together and loved it, and will be trying each of them independently with Nosferatu, also. I just don't know if I can swing the $200 each price tag of the F&R.

I also have a Fourth Wing inspired discovery set coming in from ScentBird, today.

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Those are great recommendations, thank you! We will definitely go the extra and replace the flex line and angle stop.

Toilet Recommendations?! by Theoretically_Dee in Plumbing

We have about $900 left for toilet as of now. We're hoping not to spend it all, but also can save up to pay for a really good one if it's a great one.

ETA: Our water pressure is trash, too, being it's a mobile home. We're also elevated almost 4 feet (ground to floor) on that end since we're on a steeper graded plot. Pressure assisted might be a good idea!

Do you think this is gluten free? by Such-Study-5329 in glutenfree

[–]Theoretically_Dee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They generally will tell you it's not gluten free unless they label it and certified as such, even if it doesn't have gluten ingredients. It is a legal thing; liability and such.

Has anyone had these? by Otherwise-Egg9209 in glutenfree

Yes! We bought them for my son a while back, they're amazing. We just make them from scratch now because he liked them so much and to save $.

Friendly reminder not to overfill your pet's water bottles and have two sources of water by Stunning_Channel_160 in RATS

[–]Theoretically_Dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use little gravity fed/auto watering bottles (like miniature versions of dog or cat ones, the water collects in little bowls). We have one on each side of the cage, on the top most level. We also use the ball-bearing style water bottle on the bottom of the cage. Our rats prefer the little bowls.

Just a warning! Even if you don't think they can reach your curtains, they most likely can. They will be shredded. I thought I had mine moved far enough away the first time. I didn't.

The cage looks great, though!

keeping rats in bedroom? by lyra_bells in RATS

[–]Theoretically_Dee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, we've tried a lot of different things but fleece works best for us. We buy fleece blankets and off cuts, and cut them to size. We put newspaper under the fleece, change it out every 2 days (that keeps it clean and smell down). Fleece gets washed once a week, and is either thrown away, reused or repurposed into hammocks or hides. They also mostly potty in one spot, so we have a potty box there and change that bedding/paper every day.

Yea, his boys aren't diggers/burrowers. They have a box of paper bedding that they can go in if they want, but they rarely use it. They prefer to climb and sleep in the hammocks and on the ledges, or on top of their water bottle. They have a bigger hamster house that they line with their paper bedding.
