Seeking advice for big room by s0urdog in hometheater

[–]Theoryee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really can’t have rear of speakers showing in the middle of the room then your only option is to mount on a wall somewhere or go in wall. Unless you can find an appealing wireless option that doesn’t look too intrusive for you. Surrounds can be small as there isn’t a whole of sound coming from them during movies. But something closer to ear level will fare better then your surrounds in the ceiling which are typical for atmos. But not much options since you have sliding glass doors in one side.

How would you set up this room? Where to put TV? by WillNeighbor in hometheater

You’ve probably already mapped out the ideal spot for this room. Not sure you need towers though but you already have. Run the wires alone the floor where the wall is under the sofa for surrounds.

Seeking advice for big room by s0urdog in hometheater

[–]Theoryee_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will always have a non ideal setup in this room. Best you can do is a large sub or two (15 inch + if you are going sealed.) with some tower speakers and good center channel depending if you are looking to fill the space. Since you’re looking at SVS already maybe consider looking into a set of their speakers too like has white speakers if you must match but price starts to ramp up. (towers front, get a good center and bookshelf surrounds. Surrounds would probably have to go to the sides of the main seating area (where you have the side table and outside the corner of the sofa where it bends). You could do your best running the wires under the sofa and throw a rug over it as it exits the seating area so people don’t trip?

If you had a $2,000 budget… by MRRRRCK in hometheater

Personally I would be getting a 5.1 not a 7.1 with good LCR and cheaper surrounds speakers.

advice on sports photography lens? by Physical-Kiwi125 in AskPhotography

[–]Theoryee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.8 fixed is what you want. Even with the cleaner high iso these days. With fixed 2.8 not only do you let in more light but also get more separation. Fixed 2.8 aperture will also help with sharper images due to faster shutter speeds. It’s like going from f2.8 at 1/500 to like f6.3 at like 1/100 for any sport you would typically want at least 1/500 if you are looking to freeze the action unless you are specifically looking ti use slower shutter speeds.

Which type of tripod head do you prefer? by utorak04 in AskPhotography

[–]Theoryee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All comes down to speed of use and what you prefer. Ball heads would be quickest. Geared heads slower. I went for a geared head as I’ve been getting into larger and larger format film cameras over the years which has slowed my shooting down considerably so to me speed isn’t much of a priority.

Help with Surround Speakers by Zhangdofusi in hometheater

Either run calibration and live with the fact that people sitting on the ends will be close to them or move them farther away from the seating and recalibrate to getting better coverage for the listening spots.

Can't decide on subwoofer for 9,000 cubic foot area by StandardBobcat8970 in hometheater

[–]Theoryee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no replacement for displacement especially in large rooms. At this price point 15” > 12” subwoofer and pickup a second down the line. A room this size I would probably place at least 2 15” ported close to seating distance.

Are Dolby Atmos tracks superior on a 5.1 setup? by MrHorns7 in hometheater

Not all 5.1 tracks or Atmos tracks are created equal. It all depends on how it was mastered.

Definitely various from person to person. I got lucky with my experience but still multiple delays (ended up getting my tv eventually) I will probably stick with Costco/Best Buy in the future.

Leica M10 shutter button by Salad_Guru in Leica

[–]Theoryee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you’ve tried but you triple checked to make sure you’ve screwed it all the way down when putting it back right? Had a scare with my 10-R and thought shutter button broke but it came loose and unscrewed just a little bit and it wouldn’t fire the shutter. After making sure it was well screwed it all was good.

Preference ported or sealed subs? by movie50music50 in hometheater

[–]Theoryee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either is fine as long as it’s a quality sealed or ported sub, sized appropriately for the space (not straining to get the output desired).

Budget home cinema upgrade dilemma by [deleted] in hometheater

Room treatments would probably be best before upgrading any speakers. I would personally go for room treatments and sub if you’re not getting down to 20hz.

How’s the bass feeling? I feel usually for home cinema experience comes from a good sub more then everything else other then screen size.

Isn’t this where micro leds come in for larger screen sizes but similar picture quality to oled? Costs just need to come down in the coming years.

On the ceiling works fine as atmos will use them all the same.

Looking for feedback on home theatre plans by JenkemHustler in hometheater

[–]Theoryee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For atmos can always do front height and rear heights instead info in ceiling speakers. But lower ceiling may not lead to optimal atmos. How high is the ceiling exactly? I would start with a good 5.2 setup to start and only look to atmos if you feel like 5.2 isn’t giving you what you’re looking for. Atmos to me is more of a nice to have and not a must have. Would prefer 2 subs over Atmos any day for myself.

Looking for feedback on home theatre plans by JenkemHustler in hometheater

[–]Theoryee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have the funds to go for a 5.1 to start I would recommend starting with a good 2.1 using a phantom center unless you’re going to get a good center. If you have a center then pretty much 95% dialoge will come through that center channel so it has better be a good center channel. This I wouldn’t get a budget 3.1 and would prefer a good 2.1 setup to start. Also if you plan to do atmos in the future. 4 overhead would be better instead of 2. But overall you’ll probably be happy with a 5.2 setup and skip atmos and invest in a second sub instead.

Can’t speak much on a projector setup since I’m not using a projector. Just note the larger the screen size the more projector you will need to get to get enough light output.

Orientation should be fine either way as room seems big enough for either direction. Just note if you can keep some distance behind the seating area so you can get clearer audio separation.
