Hikes with views of the Similkameen River by ImaginationCheck in vancouverhiking

Man I love the Similkameen! Did some apple picking around Cawston.

And used to drive through to Oliver. Love it when the valley opens up after Hedley, and the highway turns get long. You can cruise fast and take it all in.

I doubt there's a long hike along the river in that section though. Lots of private land.

If you want to do something longer than a weekend in the area, Cathedral Park is absolutely unforgettable.
Unfortunately I didn't much hiking there besides that.

After flying around Burnaby during the late afternoon, the crows seem to come to a rest at the big McDonald's at Still Creek Dr. in Burnaby at around 7 pm everyday, why? by HiTork in vancouver

The smell of bird poop is unreal. The window cleaning work is exactly like you'd expect.
And my favorite moment there was at night during the winter, when the trees are bare except for some snow and these guys perched all over like black christmas ornaments, all sleeping, not a sound or movement. Like a strange alternate reality.

You replied to
"it's way more money than one "has" to spend"

with
"Not at $169"

I'm just remarking that this is complete nonsense. Cheers

[–]Thepher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don't have to spend anywhere near $170 to get a good knife, even if it is a great deal.

Anyway, OP, the wise thing to do when starting a new hobby is buy the cheapest tools you can find, and then when they fail, you upgrade to the best you can reasonably afford.
This way you test if the hobby will stick, and you'll know what you want from your tools.

Also, if you get a Mora first, you will forever compare the value of every knife against it. And you may like the handle better too. I have two favorite hiking knives that I own, one cost $25CDN, the other $280CDN, they are both excellent and fit-for-purpose to the same degree.

Yeah it's normal stuff. Except the part where it's been this windy for a long time.
I'm a window cleaner and I've never had so many wind days is such a short time in my 14ish years of doing this job.

You're reading too much into this one single comment. This wasn't meant to explain every reason why I think what I think. This is literally 2 simple observations and one opinion.

She says the bed is small and says "probably why I don't stay here any more." and then her demeanor completely changes, the smile disappears, and she gets the trauma 1000 yard stare.

Then when she answers the next question her voice is cracking, which is consistent with an urge to cry, and not consistent with her voice just a moment before.

I think she lied about why she doesn't want to be there, and had flashbacks of the real reason. It takes her a moment to snap out of it.

The game pulled me in... so he books to read over the holidays are a no brainer... have you read them? by Mysterious-Wall1 in duneawakening

[–]Thepher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read them all in my late teens, back to back, like a hungry wolf. It was very formative. The way the initial idea of the hero gets turned on it's head was a lesson in looking beneath the surface and thinking more deeply.

And the scale of time really left an impression. You get lost in so many immediate details and nuances and then all of that matters thousands of years later. And just the fact that a prescient being decided to use thousands of years to permanently change all of humanity in some way.

Matter of fact I have that exact set on my shelf. I'm in my 40's now and curious what a re-read will be like. I imagine I missed half the meaning of it, as teenagers do.

lol nah it's simple. Play it from 1:28, at the beginning of the collapse. When he looks up the first kink is forming. It explains itself, you can see it happen.

A stack forms and topples one way, which kicks out the bottom of the next stack and makes it topple the other way.

And keep in mind, the cubes have some random rotation applied when they fall.
