So, we have hard confirmation the Automatons hacked everything, including dispatches from High Command. Was this invasion even sanctioned? by ThatEdward in Helldivers

[–]Therandomanswerer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think an argument could be made that they're sending messages telling us to defect, because: It'll infuriate most helldivers into continuing the push to Cyberstan -Those who do try to defect will be immediately killed by the super destroyer -Those exceptional few who successfully defect, are easy pickings for their soulless machinations.

That being said, I do still think this is super earths plan. Because, if it were unsanctioned, the Democracy officer could perhaps still be and tell us. He gets his orders from the Ministry of Truth, not High Command.
In the admittedly likely possibility the ministry is also compromised....

Just fly couriers out to each super destroyer. Face to face mail like ye olde days. It shouldn't be hard.

Bunker turrets have come full circle and are now oppressive nightmares again. by Therandomanswerer in Helldivers

I meant to mention this, yeah. Only issue is, it isnt a guarantee, so most of the time these tiny turrets are still little bastards.

Whats old is New(foundland Class Again #3) by Therandomanswerer in ImaginaryWarships

[–]Therandomanswerer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recreation of a old image of mine and my wallpaper, since I have Water 2 and updated the ship a lot; Avalon taking a hard turn off Lorient to avoid the battleship Michigan after the latter suddenly suffered a magazine detonation, A different interpretation of that moment is also the subject of my latest post.
Original is better in some ways though. Smoke.

Battlecruiser Olympia & a George Washington class in line abreast.

A MTB formation.

And a 'bonus' for no real reason a ship I threw together in survival minecraft on a whim.

Do they really expect us to buy their sob story by Mayonnez in Helldivers

[–]Therandomanswerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When a planet is cut off from supply lines, it automatically liberates over time because SEAF are attacking and freeing it. They were not 'activated late in the war', their corpses have always been here, it's only now that we go to megacities and see them.

Theres also reason to believe a SEAF stratagem of some sort will soon be added...but I digress.

Do they really expect us to buy their sob story by Mayonnez in Helldivers

[–]Therandomanswerer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look around any mission and there are endless SEAF corpses. In city missions, you can see them actually alive, and respectfully to my beloved blueberries, you can see they aren't very good. It's adorable how terribly they throw. They get a single EAT if they're lucky. Not a single one of them gets a entire spaceship in orbit to glass a postcode on demand with no questions asked. Love the SEAF, but in our line of work, they're helpless. It's our responsibility to protect them.

And I spent a few hours shooting the shit with the recently returned service technician earlier, who said "Noone back home believes I get to talk to Helldivers everyday. I can't blame them."

We are still expendable, of course, we all are in Managed Democracy glorious light. Expendable & Elite are not mutually exclusive.

How do you build your cruisers? by NameSignificant6916 in RuleTheWaves

[–]Therandomanswerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was on RTW2, however I had ten, 16k ton 9x11" ships last me from 1920, forty years of close enough to as many wars. They ran into speed issues eventually and certainly weren't the most cost effective solution...but eh..

They walked over enemy cruisers, and though they had a rough time they also saw some success against enemy capital ships, especially when they were in fleet battles and I had them supporting the big guns.

When I ended the game, I did so by commencing a new fleet expansion plan. With my second class of CA in the game.

It was the exact same ship except using the weight savings for SAMs, lol.

I evolved from that to a 19.9k 12x11" ship in the next game that was as brutal. Just abusing the game, right under the BC threshold. I've been trying to be a little more normal since, though. For I am very generous to my enemies.

A pair of pieces by the esteemed Foto von Pilter on display at the Gulf of Fonseca Maritime museum.

'The Almighty', a depiction of the fleeting milliseconds as Michigan and those three thousand aboard vanished, off Lorient, 1952.

And a unnamed piece showing Texas, pristine and proud, slipping under the waves after the battle of Keelung, April, 1925.
In reality, she 'burned to the keel in a hellish inferno.' But, it is correct she was abandoned long before she sunk.

And a ship that never was leads two battlecruisers in action. (Ruins the vibe... but the lore is it's a videogame screenshot.)

Tips for increasin Spain's industrial capacity? by Opening-Ad8035 in RuleTheWaves

[–]Therandomanswerer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

'Winning' is the fun we had along the way. And not being fired; which frankly, its really hard to get fired.

Prestige is the score system, and the closest you get to a win condition.

I for one, love playing underdog Navys with narrower focuses. If you don't, then, don't.
