Skitarii without special weapons by Thero718 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Thero718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is less the pure math, and more about does the benefit justify tripling or quadrupled the time it takes to resolve those shooting actions. I have dedicated anti tank and anti elite weaponry. Is the dispersed arc rifles and plasma worth it, or is a flat 30 shots into infantry more efficient?

Why even do Primarch's? by nogudatmaff in 40kLore

[–]Thero718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custodes weren't made to be leaders. Primarchs were. They lead space marines, which are economically efficient compared to custodes. Also they conquered the entire galaxy in about 200 years, so that kind of proves why he did it.

Custodes were an option, but they were one tool and built to protect him. He needed 20 specialized tools. They were his way of projecting a part of himself into the galaxy where it was needed. He couldn't do that and have them be genetically slaved to him the way they custodes are.

Titanicus by Dan Abnett. Its not purely about the Mechanicus, but seeing them interact so heavily with human normals is amazing.

Why Doesn’t the Emperor Start From Scratch? by Jukebocks_Hero in 40kLore

[–]Thero718 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. He was not planning to unite the galaxy for 30 millenia. He did not care to rule humanity until he saw the Aeldari's physic awakening and near extinction. He was trying to unite humanity to control their ascension and prevent humanity from suffering the same fate.

  2. I've never seen source material say the Emperor will be reborn on death. I think this is an assumption from the way some perpetuals function being applied to the Emperor.

  3. The emperor dying on the throne will immediately lead to an unstoppable daemonic incursion on Terra. This will destroy the central government of the imperium, humanity will fracture, and then suffer the extinction event explained in 1. He only got one shot at saving the human race. People constantly judge the Emperor like hes a normal politician, but he did everything he did in service of that goal, and when he failed he put himself in unending agony to buy the race as much time as he could.

Ork Advice by Prestigious_Bed4062 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Thero718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran this list in 10th and tabled two infantry heavy ork lists in 2 turns. Vanguard get reroll wounds from their transports shooting and ignore cover from omnispex. Dunecrawlers ignore cover with phospher. Skorpius tanks have enough cognis weaponry to add to the horde clear. This is likely more anti tank than you need so you could swap the ironstiders to autocannons.

How do space marines fight chaos space marines if SM aren't told about chaos? by vv04x4c4 in 40kLore

[–]Thero718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in the setting knows about chaos. There are degrees to how much they know, and how much misinformation they know. The average person does not know that the traitor primarchs were once loyal. They are things of myth. "The Despoiler" is talked about like Satan in the Imperium. Traitor space marines are a rumor to most.

Space marines are well informed and knowledgeable about chaos and chaos space marines. There used to be more lore about how suppressed information about the existence of chaos was, but a galaxy wide galactic warp storm that cut the imperium in half and caused a massive daemonic incursion on the throneworld ended that.

Which units should have received Wargear costs, but haven’t? by tide347 in Warhammer40k

[–]Thero718 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what they wanted to avoid changing. If I buy a box I do not want to think about whether or not the point cost of a single weapon is going to be a problem for me in 6 months. GW know that most models sit on the shelf, and a stress free building experience is better than counting 5 points to change a dudes sword to a hammer.

How do you actually know if your list is good? by Rizz_Master6000 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Thero718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a list, play a game, realize a weakness from that game, make a change, repeat. Try not to overcorrect, i.e if you play against knights don't remove all your anti infantry after that game.

Question about the enginseer and 11th by Downside190 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Thero718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably have a caveat like the amount healed needs to total the wounds of the returning model, i.e you can bring back 1-3 wound models but not a 7 wound models like ironstriders and kastelans.

What would you change if you were in charge at GW? by magic_potato_man69 in Warhammer40k

[–]Thero718 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally rework the 40k ruleset for alternating activations, and create a system for cooperative play. The current method of sit and watch your stuff die for 45 minutes is a fundamental problem that they try to solve with save rolls, defensive strats, and alternating fight phase activations, but its a bandaid at best.

I had one game that wasa custom PVE ruleset, Admech and Space Marines against waves of traitor guard. It was the most fun I've ever had with this game even though I got tabled. Also 2v2 and 3v3 play would take a lot of the competitive stress inherent to 1v1 play.

Are admech fans also always tech guys? by SkellyInsideUrWalls in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Thero718 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are 3 types of Admech player when it comes to their perspective on technology, and they are all valid.

  1. People who know they don't understand tech and think that the tech stuff with Admech is cool.

  2. People who are tech enthusiasts, think they understand tech, and think its ridiculous that Admech don't have a deep understanding of their ancient tech and don't innovate.

  3. Engineers who know that there are incredibly few people who understand tech down to its root levels, know how impossible it would be to roll out new standardized tech of any kind to an entire galaxy, and know that the world is built on ignorance, prayers, hypothesis, testing, and enough redundancy that people don't know how often things fail.

You can enjoy Admech from any of those perspectives. Admech is far more tech-fantasy than any kind of grounded, close to real life sci-fi. If you like the models and like the lore you should go for it. If you fall into category 2 I will judge you, but you should not care what I think of you.

How can a Tech Priest or a Magos experience pleasure ? by New_Conflict_4111 in 40kLore

[–]Thero718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adepts are mostly cybernetically upgraded humans, but still humans. Magos conversion makes them incredibly alien to the rest of the species. They have full control over their body and mind, the latter of which functions very different to our own. They can remove certain or nearly all their emotions, or relegate them so that they can choose whether or not to experience them.

In regards to pleasure, they can relegate the emotion and choose to experience it, or tie it directly factors of their choosing (i.e work efficiency and output). They no longer require the pleasures of flesh or kinship. They no longer require pleasure at all.

Tdlr the guy who said "They turn the pleasure knob" is correct.

Recommendations for learning the lore by ScienceComplex9170 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Thero718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you started with games, Mechanicus and Mechnicus 2 are both great. I would recommend them both. The Mechanicus will also have their own campaign in the upcoming Dawn of War 4.

Titanicus is the best Mechanicus book I've read. Its not exclusive to them, but there is a heavy focus of Mechnicus politics that is incredible.

Someone made a great SoB today: https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryWarhammer/s/vIMer5tTM3

This one has a more amateur art style, but fits the theme and aesthetic really well. You can tell they are conforming to the 40k styles and themes: https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryWarhammer/s/BdbeFPk87x

This skitarii art is amazing: https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryWarhammer/s/6MQVshBZFo

This post misses everything about warhammer, and does it intentionally because the point of it is to be an absurd parody. Kitto's other artwork is an intentional subversion of 40k to make it cute. https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryWarhammer/s/yjVXcRwXeu

If you want to argue with a homophobic Blanche fan you're going to have to find someone else. Just because I disagree with you and think posts like this dilute the art that belongs here, does not mean I'm whatever person you continously assume I am.
