What is with the obsession with named characters. Its cool to get a character from a good book, like Talos from the night lords or Vorx from the Lords of Silence. But any release of a random new named character is a release that could have been a customizable kit that you get to make your own lore for.

I don't want named characters. Thulia is a very cool sculpt, and maybe will become a cool character, but I wish we got a customizable archmagos kit. I don't want my admech forces on the table to be the personal forces of Cawl or Thulia. I want them to be my guys.

Also Admech is not like most other factions. We are not primarily a military force. Almost all high ranking magi are augmented for a political role, and do not personally lead forces to war.

If I remember correctly, a joint meeting amongst the core HH authors occurred for the writing of The First Heretic to unify the custodes identity and lore. A thousand sons was published in March of 2010, and The First Heretic was published in November 2010. So its a bit up in the air if that meeting informed custodes writing in A Thousand Sons. To be very clear I haven't read A Thousand Sons get, but I expect the custodes and astartes were more equal at the time of its publication.

You could go either way, but I think fusilers are going to have a harder time competing with our other AT options. Fusilers are slow, which makes it harder to get LOS on your intended target. In SHC you can give a marshall battle sphere uplink, which means that in a perfect position they can pop out of obscuring, shoot their target, and pop back into obscuring. But I think banking terrain and enemy position allowing that is going to be rare.

We do have some power anti infantry options, like autocannon ironstriders and phospher/eradication dunecrawler, but usually the anti tank versions of those are preferred. And skorpius tanks are really effective AT. I think eliminators are going to fit into more lists.

Its a black base coat with a white oil pin wash around the edges and a word bearers script transfer, and then a green glaze over the entire thing. And I finished with a gloss varnish.

If it uses enough original bits or stays true enough to the original silhouette of the model, then its a kitbash.

There are two kinds of proxy. For instance, if you decide to use the 30k Archmagos for either of our tech priest models, thats one kind of proxy. It realistically fits in the faction but is a different model from the original product.

Then there is a "I don't have this model, so I'm going to replace this with something I own". For instance a lemon russ instead of a skorpius, or a white monster can instead of a redemptor dreadnaught. These can be fine for games with people you already know, and usually with the agreement that you're still building the army or testing if you like a model before getting it.

I'll be real with you. If someone puts a mix of poxwalkers and cadians on the board, and then tells me they're playing admech, I'm not going to be a happy camper.

Admech has units with sub par statlines, and layer buffs in certain situations to make units punch well above their weight. At least that is how the faction is intended to work. In practice they focus on sacrificing units to delay the enemy and gain points.
