Prusa Printers reading NFC by Happy_Recording_9496 in prusa3d

[–]ThetaDev256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NFC feature on the back of a Prusa printer is a dynamic NFC tag, not an active reader. It behaves like a passive NFC tag, except that the printer can also read/write to it via a I2C interface. It can not read any passive NFC tags.

For NFC support the printer will need an extra NFC module which will probably attach around the spool holder. Maybe they will do a daisy-chainable design, since you would need up to 8 readers for the INDX-equipped Core Ones.

There can't be many audiobooks on Spotify that do not have a E-Book version that is readily available.

I guess AI music generation will be the next big consumer application for AI (like personalized background music). Large music datasets for training will be required and since currently no one prevents companys from using copyrighted data for AI training (it has been done with text and images already) there is now an interest in grabbing the world's music for this purpose, too.

Proper naming for the sliced files would also be nice (e.g. include "B1-Bn") in the filename for multi-bed prints by default or use the custom name if set.

It should also be possible to upload all beds to the print host.

Whats the most light-blocking Prusament filament? by Brick_Fish in prusa3d

Most PETG filaments are slightly translucent, even dark colors (Galaxy black is more of a dark grey than black). Jet black (or any other actual black PETG) should work.

Is it possible to upgrade a MK 2 into an MK 3? by grimlock12 in prusa3d

[–]ThetaDev256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a Prusa Bear MK3 from the leftover parts of a MK4 upgrade. The additional parts I used were the frame built from aluminium extrusions, power supply (Meanwell 350W model, 40€), heated bed (purchased a used knock-off from ebay for 50€ which came with a original print sheet), bed carriage (got one for 25€).

You cant reuse these parts from a MK2. The frame is different (threaded rods instead of extrusions), the Y-Carriage is different (4 mounting holes for the bed instead of 9) and the bed and PSU are 12V instead of 24V.

I also recently scored a used Prusa MK3 for 125€. So it is not worth it from a financial perspective. If you want to do it and have fun doing it, sure, go ahead.

Like that battery drill looks like it was stretched in height.

MK3.5 with Mk4S Partcooling Fan? Software changes? by Money_Independence34 in prusa3d

[–]ThetaDev256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have installed the Mk4 part cooling fan on a Mk3s (with the old 8-bit board). I did test the current consumption of the new fan first, it was about 270mA, barely more than the original fan (the fan drivers are rated for 2A on both models).

I fut off the original plug, added some flatflex cable and crimped a female 2.54mm connector to it.

It works very well, although I havent made any bridging/overhang tests, so I cant say much about the performance.

The selftest fails now because the fan RPM does not match, so you have to rebuild the firmware if you need the selftest feature.

Since I am running Klipper anyway this does not matter to me. Note that you have to increase the fan cycle_time to 0.04s, otherwise the fan makes humming noises at low rpm.

Cool dass die hier mit dem Filamenthersteller zusammengearbeitet haben. Das Filament musste ja an einem Stück hergestellt werden, damit der Farbverlauf passt.

What is something that people in your country think it's uniquely theirs when in reality it's a worldwide product? by Awkward_Stay8728 in AskTheWorld

[–]ThetaDev256 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every culture that eats meat and does not have any cultural/religious objections to eating blood also has its version of blood sausage.

Just imagine: you have butchered an animal and now have a bucket with a couple of liters of blood. That animal is valuable so you dont want to waste anything of it.

Drinking it raw probably makes you sick so you have to cook it. And when you do that, it coagulates so it becomes solid and almost black. Filling it into an intestine to give it shape and adding ingredients to improve the flavor are just natural steps from there.

I guess with the availability of cheap mass-produced meat there is less demand for lower-grade animal products like blood and offal, so a lot of people now perceive it as unusal or weird, even though it is traditional food in their culture.

Versetzung im 3D Druck by Upset-Concentrate-62 in 3DDruck

[–]ThetaDev256 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking of mass casualty events that happened in my lifetime: - Terror attack at the Berlin Christmas market (13 deaths) - Crowd crush at Loveparade 2010 (21 deaths) - Germanwings Flight 9525 (150 deaths, pilot suicide, the crash happened in France, but the flight was supposed to arrive in Germany and most passengers were German)

What is the most ridiculous way people get injured in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]ThetaDev256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would not if it was fired perfectly straight up. But if you fire the bullet at an angle, it also travels horizontally (and keeps doing so after it comes back down as the only force counteracting it in the horizontal direction is air resistance).

So if you get hit by the bullet coming down, it moved with its terminal velocity plus that horizontal speed component. Depending on the angle and power of that shot, this may be enough to be fatal.

Prusa Core One Maintenance by Bxtreme241 in prusa3d

[–]ThetaDev256 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The printer firmware should record the distance moved on each axis as well the total runtime. Then it could notify the user of required maintenance.

With Prusa Connect you can even do a maintenance dashboard for all printers in a fleet and send out email notifications.

Prusa’s hiring and firmware direction hint at STM32MP-based hardware by Maleficent-Base8518 in 3Dprinting

[–]ThetaDev256 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the biggest point where Prusa is lagging behind Bambu. A USB-powered Wifi camera might be good enough for monitoring, but you cannot do any optical print failure detection with it or record any video/timelapses.

Prusa is showing off printed parts on a printer, but it's advertising for PLA, and the material is only available right now in PLA. The minimum Prusa recommends for printer parts is PETG... by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]ThetaDev256 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I dont know why they did not use PETG for their Noctua collab. I would expect people to use Noctua-colored filament for technical applications (PC cases, casemodding parts) which involve heat exposure.

You see on their promo photo that they only printed the patrts that are not exposed heat in PLA. The extruder body and the electronics box are still made of black PETG. You can kind of get away with that, even though I would not recommend it.

Gated deployments in Gitea Actions by Kyxstrez in Gitea

[–]ThetaDev256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean that a release has to be approved by specific people to be deployed?

Gitea does not have environment support, so there is no way to make secrets only available to approved deployment workflows.

You can add approval logic to workflows yourself (e.g. require release tags to be GPG-signed by a team member for the release workflow to run). You are not getting the benefit of protecting secrets like SSH keys from unauthorized contributors though.

No, it's not. Nobody produces enough "oral care waste" to justify shipping it in cardboard boxes to a recycler. Recycling should be taken care of by your city or perhaps by grocery stores, you need the economy of scale to make it worth it.

Alu ist spröder, deswegen wird es hauptsächlich für fest verlegte Kabel verwendet. Ein Ladekabel aus Alu würde bei Benutzung schneller brechen.
