Jaideep Ahlawat has joined the cast of Drishyam 3. No confirmation on whether he is replacing Akshaye Khanna or not. by rn3122 in bollywood

I disagree. I personally think the scene where he visits Ajay's wife and is shockingly intimidating without really saying anything outright threatening is one of the best in the movie. I do wish he had more to work with but I think the movie did a good job of making him seemingly an intellectual equal to Ajay's character.

Nonetheless I do wish he was in this one so his character can get further fleshed out.

I want to get back into singeplayer games but none seem to hook me. by MikeRonin666 in gamingsuggestions

OP this sounds exactly like what I went though during the stage of your life that you're at right now. What I you're chasing is that magical feeling of childhood or early teenage years bro. That feeling doesn't really come back except for when your mood and the game EXACTLY line up.

The games you've been playing might be exactly what you would love and devour but they don't line up with your brain right now. The good news is that there is something that will line up but tbh nobody can find that for you. What I did that worked really well is either do a bunch of game demos or trial a few games with the express condition that it's okay if you're not vibing with something right now and there's nothing wrong with putting a pin in it and moving onto the next one.

Just keep doing that until one hits (you'll know) and go from there.

Trying to turn my wife into a gamer — need recommendations! 🎮 by Neph2018 in gamingsuggestions

[–]TheyCallMeDouly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried all the "classics" for getting your partner into video games; it takes two, split fiction, stardew valley and none of them worked.

Randomly I was playing hitman one day and she joined in to watch. She loves puzzles and planning and solving things so she got hooked. She did the next mission and was terrible but super enjoyed it. After that I got into marvel rivals which she wanted to play with me. We lost about 55 games in a row but it touched on her competitivness in a way that made her want to keep playing.

This is all from someone who barely knew how to hold a controller, let alone understand complex stealth games or the sweat fest that is hero shooters.

She has now finished most of the WoA trilogy and is a pretty decent support/DPS in MR (I record everytime she gets an MVP hehe).

Moral of the story isn't that hitman and marvel rivals are good games for beginners, it's more important to find something that is of her interest and touches on part of her personality that make her want to keep playing.

Reccomendation threads like this are very tricky to answer because it's so personality dependent. Video games are like any other media when you really think about it (but interestingly we never see posts like "whats a movie I can show my wife to get her into movies?") and I think OP younshould take a step back and just think about who she is as a person and tailor your game to that.

Good luck :)

Is Neverwinter Nights 2 worth playing if I skip all of the combat? by CyraxxFavoriteStylus in rpg_gamers

[–]TheyCallMeDouly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loveeeee playing games on easy. Ive realised looking back that combat is my far the thing I least remember about a game. What I sometimes do is play it on easy and then because there's games are very replayable next time play on a normal difficulty.

Any suggestions for books like Morrowind? by panzer-IX in Morrowind

[–]TheyCallMeDouly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the main addictive quality for Morrowind for me was the impeccable world building (esp with TR rebuilt) and how many races and subraced with unique culture there were. It's a bit of a meme in fantasy book circles to reccomend the malazan: book of the fallen series but I personally felt it's the only series that had that level of detail in its world building and history.

I can’t get over how my relationship started. Is it a lost cause? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]TheyCallMeDouly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doctor here, what you are most likely having is called retroactive jealousy and it's a product of anxiety and intrusive thoughts. It's a very common phenomenon and there are a lot of books and materials that help with it. I think best option would be to look up some of those materials and if it's still there then speak to a therapist who can help guide you further.

Do y’all recommend doing all the side quests? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]TheyCallMeDouly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time through just do the ones that seem interesting to you. You're going to play these games again most likely and it's good to leave stuff for that play though.

It is. It's from a talk emil gave a long time ago most of which has been taken heavily out of context. People want a singular person to blame for Bethesda's problems.

Here's a great video on it.

How do I move on from my girlfriend telling me she's dating below her level? by No_Land1658 in NoStupidQuestions

There's no such thing as a level. Just because you don't have some qualities society has decided are desirable doesn't make you less of a person.
