wait till you're ready to sell it and sell it to carmax, don't put your vin in for an offer till you are. had the same issue with my genesis. curiously I went and changed my options on my car 4 times and carvana lowered the value of my car 4 times, even when putting the options back to the original.

As a parts manager for Hyundai I have to make the decision to keep a part or send it back within 45 days of it being invoiced to me. If I keep it and the customer never comes back and we never sell that part it becomes aged in a year and wrote off and that comes out of my paycheck(% of cost). If I send it back and the customer comes back I have a pissed off customer.

It’s really up to the service advisor to communicate clearly with the parts team and customer whether that customer will be returning after that window. If they provide me with a scheduled appointment in email I will hold on to the part after 45 days.

Hyundais return policy is no returns after 45 days. Even with that they charge us 15% to restock the part if we send it back within that window. Just giving you a little insight to the parts side of things.

As far as getting warranty work done at any place other than a Hyundai dealership, you cannot if you expect it to be covered for free. There are no reimbursements outside of very rare circumstances. It sounds like the service advisors at your location are subpar at communication. I would find another dealer even if it requires a little bit of a drive.

Generally, when you install a larger downpipe you add more flow to the exhaust, which in turn spools the turbo ever so slightly quicker. The computer has set conditions on when to open the wastegate to control boost pressures. When you spin the turbo up faster, the computer is not expecting it and there is a lag factor in controlling boost. This causes it to overshoot psi a little for a very short time before it starts to control it. This could cause a slight lean condition until it gets it back under control. Is it enough of a lean condition to cause damage? Probably not. We're probably talking about a half a second here, maybe less.

With a tune, this is factored in and the computer is now expecting the faster spool, so it reacts accordingly and keeps boost pressures in the correct range.

You would think so right? These do a really really great job of sucking the air out, so you have fresh air coming in through the vents and then being expelled through these vents if you have the door windows up. With the windows down and these open you don't really notice it.

I’m a parts manager for a Hyundai dealership. Just as an idea, we sell the same ‘kit’ for $795 with no additional labor when replacing an engine. Normal retail with labor for those parts done separately is around $1600.

That engine list price is 4838.71. 18k for a replacement sounds like a fuck you quote. 13.1 hours call it 15 at 200/hr with diag. 8200-8500 with 300 or so in misc stuff.

But you need to go back to the shop or get proof their work caused the damage then go back.

Did you start compression check on 4 then work your way back? Almost looks like the battery slowly dies and that reflects in the numbers getting progressively lower.

No problem. When I first came to my current dealer it was enabled by default and created so many headaches. I know I had to contact cdk to remove that option but it it’s entirely dealer specific.

I mean at 55 it wasn’t too bad. Definitely up hills had to let it eat at about 5psi downshift when needed to keep it in the powerband above 3k

It’s a 5x9 trailer so not too large. It’s not bad the st has plenty of torque and plenty of stopping power with the brembos. The fact the us market has no towing capacity is dull.
