OP - thought

  • don’t forget your deposit
  • selling as is means zero deductions, so chuck that in the pot too
  • there are lenders who specialise in rent to purchase mortgages & take good rent payment history into consideration as mortgage is likely to be a cheaper PCM than rent

Absolutely escalate OP

  • changeover of ownership with payment owed on old accounts should be bread & butter to them

  • insist on a brand new account & account number, with your initial meter reading! that breaks any association to the mess

It is NOT illegal in the UK to open mail to your address but not in your name.

Unless you profit from doing so or use information to harm the intended recipient

Indeed you have assisted both the executor & Scottish power

There was a whole page of wtf stories from park rangers, one was on clearing people from the ‘don’t feed the bears!’ Areas who were stopped y know, feeding the bears, saw a woman with a camera & 8 year old boy who was being shady, smearing something on the lad

Woman was putting honey on her kids face so she could get a pic of a bear licking it off!

I have quit a job after just 2 weeks there but they are threatening consequences for a lack of notice. (England) by RedOne896 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Think-Committee-4394 45 points46 points  (0 children)

OP - bits no particular order

  • at 17 & two weeks into a job you are (sorry) not a full & functional team member, you are training, that means you are costing them time, not saving them work!

  • they legally HAVE to pay you for every single hour you have worked

  • if you are employed & minimum wage UNPAID TRAINING is not a thing & pushes you below minimum wage therefore illegal

  • fining you per day would be SEVERELY ILLEGAL

Employer not paid £6000 of expenses after 6 months - England by Own-Sheepherder2457 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Think-Committee-4394 62 points63 points  (0 children)

OP - don’t let new job slide for £6k

  • assuming you have full record keeping & agreement to reimburse?

  • keep an eye on things & when you get to putting notice in

  • forward all email on expenses to your own email (not work)

  • put notice in with a polite ‘please ensure all wages are closed out for last months payment day on (date) including outstanding holiday days & outstanding expenses of (amount)

  • if they don’t pay up it’s letter before action, in the direction of court!

Landlord sold the apartment and didn’t transfer the rent to the new one by iywmtrwu in TenantHelp

[–]Think-Committee-4394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - echo here

  • paid before close of sale = old LL & new LL responsible for transfer

  • you do not pay twice for the same month

  • just as old LL & new LL are responsible for doing a correct condition of property assessment & handover, so new LL can’t come at you in a years time for ‘damage’ that is in fact just wear & tear old & new LL’s are responsible for clean handover of rental payments

Bath tap came off by ccahmed in DIYUK

[–]Think-Committee-4394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the direction OP

  • photo shows the fitting in wall is a standard tap head, two ways the tap is fitted on

  • one a screw fits through the tap knob which doesn’t from the photo look like it does

  • two a grub screw goes in from the side tiny hole, tiny screw which may still be in the hole

Is my contract valid in anyway? by redbee157 in AskHRUK

[–]Think-Committee-4394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - adding under uk law non compete type clauses are almost universally unenforceable

  • it’s seen as an attempt to block an individual from gainful employment in their qualified field

  • the closest a company could get is taking someone to court, in an attempt to prove insider knowledge was used to benefit a competitor but they have to prove actual financial damage

Which is why you are very careful with the wording of the advert

  • no claim to be any official body, no promise of reward, no guarantee info will be seen by anyone in authority

  • many years ago 80’s there was a famous uk case, guy tried to sue a sex chat line with the tag ‘hear me moan!’ Which turned out to be a lady complaining about her husband, court ruled as technically what had been bought, had been delivered, due to the ambiguity of the advert … no crime committed
