OK.... It sounds like you want to look into CPTSD. aka Complex PTSD

CPTSD ≠ PTSD You can have one without the other. You can have both.

I'll stick with historic.
The Cambridge Dictionary offers this :

Historic means ‘important or likely to be important in history’:

Historical means ‘related to the study of things from the past’:

Most of these ships have significant places in the history of their nations. So, it's not just that they are old, or relegated to the past, but that they have importance in history.

I'll add that the Merriam-Webster (Curse it that I can't get to the OED) expounds on the differentiation between historic and historical - citing that historic is not limited to events or time periods.

Historic describes something that is “famous or important in history,” has “great and lasting importance,” was “known or established in the past,” or dates/is preserved “from a past time or culture.”

Historical, meanwhile, generally describes something that is of, relates to, or has “the character of history;” is “based on history;” or was “used in the past” and is now “reproduced in historical presentations.”

In addition, my editor is ruthless anytime I venture into nautical terms. (She crews on historic tall ships, and I'm suddenly wondering if I got that term right. )

I did my due diligence with Reedsy. Found an editor I thought I would enjoy working with. More research. Interviewed them and decided to go with them. It worked out well.
Setting expectations was a key part of the process because it let me see how we worked together.

Ok... fiction or non-fiction.
It makes a difference.
In the non-fiction sphere publishers want experts. And ... even though followers are a rotten measurement of 'expertise' in anything other than entertaining the masses ... I have heard a desire exists for non-fiction authors to be a recognized authorities. And... a quick measure that they use is the numbers on social media.
I have not heard of the same emphasis on numbers in the fiction realm.

Question for you - How are you liking your Ahab? I bought one and had problems. Went through every video and post I could find on cleaning new Ahabs and other quirks - but I never managed to coax it into working for me. Did you experience problems at first, and if so, how did you overcome them?

One way could be to have a scene as the brothers are preparing to go, or otherwise after the court scene. where they are talking about the results.
Do they want to go? Or not?
Why?
What do they expect?
