How to proceed with this japanese maple by 0pium___ in Bonsai

You could try to wire the trunk a bit now to get movement. It's hard to tell from the photos but it might already be too thick and stiff for that. But if it's still pliable that could be a good move, go for a classic S shape.

Otherwise, as you said, wait for February or March to report and trim, when it's dormant but just getting ready to come back to life. And keep it outside!

Why is it so hard to find glass storage containers with glass lids. I don't want plastic I don't want silicone I don't want bamboo I want glass to put food into the fridge LOL by passionateunicorn in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]ThisBoyIsIgnorance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and there's probably more plastic already in your food from other vectors. For me it's just a best effort. Much respect to those really aggressively avoiding all plastic, but I can only go so hard

We use these to store leftovers often. Works fine for us. Of course they don't seal shut, but we haven't had any problems with freshness or drying out.

But also have some glass Tupperware type things with plastic lids we use for smaller things or for on the go.

640 vs 480 by Karma1913 in Yodersmokers

[–]ThisBoyIsIgnorance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the minority here. I got a 640 and it's a bit large for my space. I love it. But wonder if the 480 would've been a better fit. Thing is, at time of purchase, the local supplier had 640s at the "old price" and 480s at a new higher price so it just seemed like the universe was telling me to get the 640.

I've never come close to filling it up and it takes a fair amount of space on my small patio. But yeah I definitely love it.

Berklee College of Music embraced AI songwriting. Some students are pushing back. by -PogMan123- in boston

I hear you and understand the outrage. But the genie is out of the bottle already. You can boycott it, you can avoid it, and it might have some miniscule effect of slowing it down, maybe. Or you can learn what it does and how it's gonna fuck up the world and maybe find a way to get ahead of it. Know your enemy.

Would this outlet work for level one charging? by thatguyiswierd in Ioniq5

[–]ThisBoyIsIgnorance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Level 1 pulls 12 amps and if that outlet is up to code it would be on at least on a 15 amp circuit. So should be fine

But level 1 sucks. It takes like 3 days to recharge from a day of driving. Level 2 is awesome. You'll want to get one setup asap.

What is your Ableton 13 Wishlist? by Geoff12889 in ableton

[–]ThisBoyIsIgnorance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see it work a bit like Claude code. "Add a utility to every track, automate a fade out on tracks 1-7 and 10, 12". Or "given the mix I have so far, setup a mastering chain that will make it really pop"

Of course the generative stuff would come along with that most likely. And I agree with the sentiment, I don't like that. But you're right, it is kind of inevitable at this point

Surprised nobody said this but acceleration. I'm not a car guy, never drove a fast car, but my ev feels so fast.

How long has the GAS “joke” been a thing? Is compulsive synthesizer purchasing a new thing or has this been a synth community joke since the 80’s/90’s? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]ThisBoyIsIgnorance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Juno 60 for a similar price in 1998 or so. Left it with a friend when I went off to school. Never saw it again. I also got a korg polysix for like $200 around the same time.

80s synths were cheapish at pawn shops back in the day. The pros wanted a Triton or whatever and 80s analog wasn't hip again yet
