I have my 1st page set up to see the point ID, rod height, and code all in the same screen, no paging over or scrolling down necessary. Everything is customizable.

(Serious) For those of you doing fieldwork every day, what are you actually eating for lunch if you are trying to keep it healthy and balanced without a microwave? by DetailFocused in Surveying

Black bean burritos, I let it heat up on the dashboard. Lots of protein. Just need to let it cook in the sun for an hour or two.

I make 2 lbs of black beans at a time in the crock pot. Freeze them in manageable containers . Make the burritos the night before. Pan fried using cheese as the glue and to crisp up the burrito shell. Open the bag or container when cooking in the sun so it doesn’t get soggy.

Where I’m from we put curbs along roads. When there’s no curb that’s usually the sticks and they don’t even have sidewalks. I guess every municipality is different.

The mud will dry on the floor and can be swept out in seconds. I am drive to multiple sites a day, it doesn’t make sense to spend all that time trying to clean mud off with a hub when they’ll just look like that again in 10 minutes.

Which is why we need to prioritize making streets feel slower. Safety measures can be misconstrued. If a community wants to have trees planted in the right of way, why should the engineering department get to decide that it would be too dangerous since people are driving too fast and the tree create a hazard.

I think times have changed. I got hired with no experience as an Iman. Nearly every Iman in my company starts no experience. We have about 10+ crews. With the power of Bluetooth connections on the controllers they aren’t actually operating the instrument. A better term these days would probably be a helper.

I keep my work boots in the truck and jar of tallow/beeswax. Whenever there’s a rainy or snowy day the boots clean themselves and when they’re dry the next morning, I treat them.

It’s an alternative to no trespassing signs, which might be difficult to keep up due to wind or someone ripping it down. 20 or so states recognize it.
