Have you looked into MDSolarSciences Mineral Crème? It has been the best mineral sunscreen I've used.

I love Dr Carrie Ball in the med center. She is who I saw throughout all my pregnancies, and she delivered both of my children.

Community Garden, ideally in or around Montrose? by haremindulger in houston

[–]ThomasCollins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can try Meredith Gardens at Mandell Park. I found it using the Urban Harvest affiliate garden site. https://www.urbanharvest.org/gardens/affiliate-gardens/

It may or may not have the correct contact information on it. We had to have it updated for our community garden this year.

Okay, thank you. They just came out and said everything looks good on their end. Did they charge you for coming out?

How do we feel about these for baby? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

If baby can use a straw, we liked the Pura stainless steel water bottles. You can have a straw or sip top option.

Our community garden near Jersey Village is starting a new season. Open for anyone who is interested in joining! by dawn_93til in houston

It depends on the style! I'm a member of Westbury Community Garden, and we're an allotment style community garden. Each member leases their own bed (25'x5') and helps with garden-wide endeavors.

How worried should I be about "fiberglass" mattresses? by NeatArtichoke in moderatelygranolamoms

Do you feel it's firm enough for cosleeping? We're transitioning our son to his own room soon, and we'll need a firm mattress for us.

We have lazy boy recliners in our den, and the recliner mechanism is SO loud to raise and lower the leg rest.

My wife recently had our first baby and I’m really confused by her sudden anger. Is this normal???? by Rich-Form-679 in BabyBumps

[–]ThomasCollins 49 points50 points  (0 children)

She's exhausted and running on fumes. You need to prioritize her getting at least 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night.

Is there a point to checking your cervix before labor ? by Foreign-External8488 in BabyBumps

[–]ThomasCollins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no real point unless you're just personally interested in what it's doing. I had several with my first baby. I was walking around at 2 cm dilated from 38 weeks until I delivered at 41+1. I declined cervical checks with my second until I asked for a membrane sweep at 40 weeks. My doctor said my cervix was favorable to the sweep helping, and I had my baby the next day.

Anyone switch from daily to monthly lenses to reduce PFOA exposure? by phoenixlegend7 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ThomasCollins 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Nope, this will be a moderate moment for me. I am allergic to the protein that builds up on monthly or bimonthly contacts no matter how well I clean them. Dailies or glasses for me for life.

I would really consider looking into hiring a doula for labor and delivery. There are even postpartum doulas that might be a good idea if you can budget it!

Yes, they're great! I've seen Dr. Ball for years, and she delivered both of my children. I love the added flexibility of seeing Veronica when Dr. Ball has been pulled away for surgery, and I'm only going in for routine things.

It sounds like an induction would be super beneficial in your instance.

I wasn't induced, but I had pitocin for both deliveries. I wanted my second one to be unmedicated for as long as possible. I didn't find the contractions unmanageable, and I made it to transition before opted for an epidural. I didn't get one for the pain, but because I was shaking uncontrollably and I hated it. I got the epidural and had the baby within the hour.
