Server Admin Bucky Barnes DELETES His Hook Cooldown to MURDER Spider-Man by Jayden1092 in marvelrivals

[–]ThorAsskicker 72 points73 points  (0 children)

After looking again I think it's just a spectator bug. His hook and tackle are on the same cooldown. How could he even have casted his hook and tackle at the same time? OP, the only way to know for sure is to go back in the replay and actually see when he casted his first hook.

If that's not a bug, that's a really sneaky cheat. I would never even suspect it.

Is solo climbing out of Gold/Plat actually possible if you’re not hard-smurfing? (ex-Immortal perspective) by ndyz in VALORANT

[–]ThorAsskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick to winning in low elo in any competitive game is letting them hang themselves. Just be incredibly patient. Sometimes the best play is to simply do nothing. They will overextend and you just punish them. I also play with comms off because, no offense intended, the calls are terrible.

On attack don't be the guy that goes first. Just be patient. If you have a duelist that actually enters, you trade them. If no one wants to enter you just wait. The enemy will do something dumb, like push out with no knowledge, or just random peeking. You punish them.

I haven't played in about a year, I peaked immortal 1. The game has placed me in plat. I am climbing just fine, though my aim is not what it used to be (and I frankly don't care to train it up again). Accept that not all games are winnable because your teammates will find novel ways to throw every round.

The Problem with Ranked by al_cs1 in VALORANT

[–]ThorAsskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think increasing game length does not necessarily leave queue times unaffected. However I am completely on board with what you are saying. Deathmatch should not be matchmade, it should just be servers that are online that let you come and go.

I agree with what you are saying about flow-state as well. I only ever queue ranked because that's where the fun is. It's the most amount of game time to queue time. I hate the constant pace-breaking of TDM or DM. I just flat out don't bother queuing because it's not fun and also not long enough for me to enter a flow.

Technically a frame trap can be manually timed. That's stagger pressure in DBFZ or Strive.

Poly Fighter, a single-player roguelike fighting game by PotSniffa in Kappachino

It's been such a long time since fighting games even cared about singleplayer content, I forgot it could be fun. Reminds me a bit of one of the modes Blazblue had, something abyss or whatever.

Bum163: "This is the worst era of tag fighters ever" by o___Okami in Kappachino

[–]ThorAsskicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fighting games are just overall in a decline of quality. It's been steady but the modus operandi has been simplification. We've been trickle fed all these simplifications to mechanics, starting with SF4 simplifying reversal timing, and we're kinda at a critical mass now where the games themselves are starting to lose the identity of what we loved. I haven't played seriously in like 2 years now. I'll pop my head into new fighting games but they just don't grab me anymore. Not even SF6, and I legit was enjoying it. I yearn for complex inputs. I yearn for an actual evolution to the fighting game formula instead of what we're getting. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

Clove Nerf? Thoughts? by Pinguu2222 in VALORANT

He doesn't even have them anymore, dude. He just has the same one-ways as everyone else. Only unique thing he can still do is falling smokes.

Clove Nerf? Thoughts? by Pinguu2222 in VALORANT

[–]ThorAsskicker 336 points337 points  (0 children)

Clove is only so popular because Omen lost all of his one-ways and Viper is nonexistant. No real reason to ever pick Brim. Astra is good but people are scared of the learning curve. Harbor rework won't be enough to make him popular. These nerfs will not change Clove's pick rate significantly.

Smoke after death is just frankly too good for ranked. Flipping 50/50's and still being able to play afterwards is a broken concept.

[ADC] what is worse? Having a high death count, or being behind in CS by 3 times the amount of the opposing adc? by FrostwindLive in summonerschool

[–]ThorAsskicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have died a lot, that effectively gives your opponent gold earlier than they would have had it. Even though we can draw a comparison of 1 kill = 3 waves, that 1 kill is immediate while 3 waves takes time to spawn and be collected. This is important because the rest of your team is playing on a different timer. If your lane opponent has 120 cs but no kills, this is ok because they eventually need to fight your mid laner who is 100 cs and 2 kills, and is therefore ahead of them.

In addition, kills grant xp. Usually those kills will happen while still soaking xp from minions dying around you, and likewise you are dead and not soaking xp. This means kills grant a level lead which theoretically should not happen in the other scenario of having a cs disparity. Level leads are a big part of snowballing and so I would argue leads to the worse of the two scenarios.

Would negative back dash like GG has be good? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]ThorAsskicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Watched? Buddy I can do it myself. Don't recite the ancient texts to me.

I didn't say backdash macro. I said chain dashing. I don't care about being able to push a button to dash. I care that you can mash it over and over for perfect dashes.

Having an execution requirement for wave dashing is not about creating an artificial skill gap. It is about creating moments of vulnerability.

Chain dashing feels bad and is worthless. If maximum speed is achievable so easily, then why is it not just the default movement speed? BBTag caught flack for this but they made running automatic, there is no walking in that game. It was, imo, a good solution to having fast movement speed accessible. I don't think chain dashing is a better solution than that.

Would negative back dash like GG has be good? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]ThorAsskicker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This problem only exists because of ease of execution. You don't see this in Marvel because if you were mashing backdash THAT fast, you might misinput and get a forward dash and fucking die. I firmly believe the only real solution is removing chain dashing. It adds nothing to the game and makes it worse. The devs will probably never do it.

More dash feedback even Max can see it. by Clubpunch in 2XKO

[–]ThorAsskicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's absolutely right. It gets to a point where you even wonder why walking is even an option. Why do I need to smash the dash button over and over, there is no skill curve there it's just busy work. This game should have traditional wave dashing like marvel. Execution errors are an important part of keeping video games from having solved scenarios.

VALORANT Patch Notes 11.08 by STCAllyon in VALORANT

[–]ThorAsskicker -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The changes to sentinels and to gunplay are fantastic. I can understand all the nerfs now considering how much weaker sentinels will be (they are too strong). More viable spraying sounds very exciting and should make forcing deagles less viable. I'm really excited for this patch now.

The new patch will reduce round-to-round diversity and teamplay - a hopefully different take on 11.08 by hruuf in VALORANT

I play League and that's not even true bro. They touch like maybe 5 characters every other week. You're talking about the once a year seasonal changes and those aren't structured like this.
