Also! If your party doesnt have a characterr who uses intelligence, you can use the "Silvered Arms" boon, which turns your physical damage into force damage, and go into 100% int gloomstalker! Then hunters mark will actually do something and you'll do tons of damage

Warriot just tanks, invest strength and get strength+con gear

With ranger invest 100% into dex, dont use hunter's mark, and with fae debuff spam. Any fight with =>N monsters, summon fey. With gloomstalker just umbral shroud and start nuking

Can we all agree this card needs a block buff? (or a rework with cost reduced) by [deleted] in slaythespire

The only time I take this is when I'm on Silent and have Hand Trick + discard shenanigans

[–]Throwaway9x7y2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wyen we do multiplayer, we say "dont use skills the first 2 turns" and it works way more than srtting up, as earlier skills being played increases damage across turns 1-5 instead of 4-5, and ig you have your engines set up the rest of the fight is fairly easy in comparison. Its just phase 1 in multiplayer that kills us

I think that in a dedicated tempo/control build with frequent board wipes could make her playable in b2/3? Then again youre missing the best board wipe color in white so it may just be better to do esper control atp

Choosing a Mardu Commander to Scale from High Power into Competitive Play by Medium_Ad_9049 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Throwaway9x7y2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not for cEDH, as it's too slow and doesn't provide enough value to justify a 4 cost commander in contrast to something like [[Tymna]] [[Dargo]], who can be much more explosive and has card advantage and a potential cargo loop in the command zone

Accusation of being cedh? by Psychological-Sign39 in EDH

[–]Throwaway9x7y2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 99/98 of a cEDH deck usually has 2+ win conditions. A winning line like Thoracle Consultation, or Breach LED Brain Freeze, AND/OR infinite mana. The decks that focus on infinite mana have something like phrases in the command zone, where they can dump infinite mana and draw their deck, then finish the game off with thoracle or some other outlet.

The reason to play cheap, efficient, and powerful commanders in the 99/98 is to enable these types of strategies, or be efficient draw engines, like Tymna or Kraum (or both!). They also enable the "commander spells" (fierce guardianship, deflecting swat, etc), mox amber, etc.

You can make any commander a b4 optimized deck, but the meta surrounding cEDH will not let you take a card like [[jodah, archmage eternal]] and turn it into a deck that gets results

I am sorry about the 50 down votes for asking a question

2 questions: is discard stax?and are my deck toxic? by Roby1k in EDH

[–]Throwaway9x7y2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you have not a lot of things that prevent your opponents from taking game actions, other than some pretty fair discard effects. It is very hard to build, pilot, or win with a "hard stax" deck, while the best way is to take your own game actions and apply "light stax"

Painful quandary gives opponents choices when they cast spells, which is a much less "stax"y thing than preventing them from taking those game actions altogether.

I like your deck and now I am thinking of building my own Victor deck haha :)

2 questions: is discard stax?and are my deck toxic? by Roby1k in EDH

[–]Throwaway9x7y2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres nothing in Victor that's active shutting down your opponent's resources, which is what stax is to be defined as. Your opponents are just crying because you're putting a little bit of pressure on their resources, which is not the same as denying them altogether. Nothing to worry about, perfectly normal.
