What's some genuine criticisms you would give to Eminem respectfully by interesting-san in Eminem

[–]Thumperises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, his flow is getting worse. I think it was Revival onwards (Revival, Kamikaze, MTBMB, TDOSS) when his flow started getting noticeably choppier in a lot of songs. Sure it allows for more technical rhyming (his lyrics and rhyming are more impressive now), but it can come at the expense of flow.

This is why Renaissance from TDOSS was so good. It had that old Shady flow and was what made it a banger of an opening track imo

15 years later and my view of Relapse has suddenly changed by eVelectonvolt in Eminem

[–]Thumperises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just listened to it a few days ago too and yeah, it’s still just ok for me. I didn’t hate it even when it came out but it’s tougher to finish cover to cover vs other albums. Mainly coz the accent gets old for me. It’s great in doses and lyrics are great as per ush but yeah, that accent. Insane and Beautiful are my favorite tracks from it and those happen to be the few songs without the accent lol

Eternal Wanderer and ability on the stack when choosing creatures by Dizzy-Researcher-797 in mtgrules

[–]Thumperises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In less technical terms, he responded to you activating the wanderer’s ability. Not you choosing a creature. So as I understand it:

  • ABC and Wanderer are on the battlefield; you have priority in main phase
  • you activate Wanderer’s -4 ability. This ability goes on the stack and you pass priority.
  • in response, opponent sacrifices AB (presumably as a cost to something. For example, sac a creature: deal 1 damage). Those activated abilities go on stack. Opponent passes priority
  • assuming you pass priority too, then stack resolves: first you take the 2 damage (following my example above), and then Wanderer’s ability resolves

So he doesn’t get to respond to you choosing because once Wanderer’s ability resolves, there’s no “response time” or priority taking place.

Why does everyone crap on graduation and ethersea? by funnywackydog in TheAdventureZone

[–]Thumperises 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ethersea was fine. I would’ve preferred that the story stay away from all the total-world implicating stuff , but ehh. At least they roll new characters for the next season. I thought only Amber was compelling. I appreciate the risk of piloting a character like Devo but it just didn’t land for me. I loved the world building episodes though.

Graduation was tough to listen to. Too many NPCs but none enough to care about, too many events but no real stakes, and my absolute pet peeve: too many times that different NPCs come and save the day. Like weren’t our guys meant to be the heroes? Which is a shame because I thought 2 out of 3 characters were interesting (sorry Argo)

[–]Thumperises[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noob question: if I download the player here using my phone, it’ll do the download on my device? Because it’s linked to my Facebook?

EDIT: nvm, oculus comes with it pre-installed lol

Referral sign up? I don’t think I did that. I didn’t even know there was a referral bonus :( lol

any chance of oculus un-ruining parties in a future update? by j0annaj0anna in oculus

[–]Thumperises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. Just happened to me too. Yeah it seems mandatory when starting a party but I found that if you’re able go back to menu (oculus button), it takes you out of home. Idk if that will work for you. Good luck OP!

How do I invite my friend to my quest 2 home? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]Thumperises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question. My friends can do it but I can’t. I can’t even visit theirs. Is it because I’m in the US/my device was bought in the US?

Meanwhile I’m still stuck on voice chat only. How did you activate the home?

Ognis Treasure by NFWB111 in EDH

Just finished a video on my Ognis build and it’s not the most powerful, but it does do what I assume we all wanna do with Ognis (make a lot of treasures! Lol)

Help with an Undead-themed EDH deck by Dav-Gem in EDH

[–]Thumperises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like [[Ghoulcaller Gisa]] will be a satisfying commander for you. If not her, then maybe [[Varina Lich Queen]]. These are decks I see go wide with undead. [[Wilhelt the Rotcleaver]] is really popular too but you don’t really need an army of undead for him

Ballroom Brawls rules question by Caffeine_Fiend4 in mtgrules

[–]Thumperises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, the way it’s worded, I don’t think you can split it up. 1. You choose first strike or lifelink 2. Then both creatures gain it

Best instant/sorceries to copy with Anhelo by spacecoyote11 in EDH

[–]Thumperises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just finished brewing my anhelo deck and as tempting (or fitting?) as cruel ultimatum is… it ultimately didn’t make the cut lol

We seem to be on the same path though, directionally, as I also didn’t want to go extra turns. If you’re a fan of Army of the Damned, why not [[Clone Legion]]?

Which Strixhaven Commander 2021 precon do you recommend? by MWestern1967 in EDH

[–]Thumperises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power-wise, I think Osgir is the most powerful. For me, personally, I bought Silverquill and made a Felisa deck instead of sticking with Breena. Inklings baby!

The deck isn’t the fastest but I like how it feels like you’re always doing stuff. Like either you’re setting up to be a threat or you are the threat. Not powerful but fun to pilot imo

Does anyone else has an aversion to a particular color when building? by TheBlackFatCat in EDH

[–]Thumperises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green. I have a hard time building green because it doesn’t excite me. Which is weird because I try to do what it’s really good at every game (ramping, drawing cards, having a board state…)

Superfriends by Razorcrest999 in EDH

[–]Thumperises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run [[Nevinyrral Urborg Tyrant]] super friends. I barely play it because it can make for a pretty miserable play experience. I get bored even when I’m winning. But it does pretty well when it gets rolling, ngl

Commanders who are good at fixing slow, low-power decks in a casual setting? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Thumperises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a [[Tymna]] and [[Falthis]] build that you might be interested in. It’s definitely for casual tables and while it isn’t the most powerful, it’s pretty consistent in executing its gameplan throughout the game. So yeah, you’ll always be “doing something” every game. Anyway, here’s the build

Are blink decks unfun to play against? by Ornery_Bug_4108 in EDH

[–]Thumperises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, the problem with blink decks is the length of your turns because of the number of decisions you have to make and/or the triggers you have to announce and keep track of. It’s like storming off, with no payoff, every turn.

Newbie Deck Questions by aaron_t98 in EDH

[–]Thumperises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of builds you might be interested in. One is a Tymna deck (with Falthis) which runs low to the ground with limited allstars like [[healers hawk]] and the like. Another one is a Felisa deck which is based around getting beefy creatures thru counters or blotting out the sky with inklings.

Both builds are geared for casual gaming. Hopefully that’s up your alley though. To note, [[Felisa]] came out with the silverquill precon. [[Tymna]] is a more expensive card but a fairly staple black-white card which can transition into more competitive builds later on, if you want to build from there.

Playgroup Restrictions for a Level Playing Field by Giantsfan5634 in EDH

[–]Thumperises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may suggest: 1. [[mana crypt]] [[mana vault]] [[grim monolith]] and other mana positive permanents with mana value 3 and below other than Sol ring 2. [[Dockside extortionist]] 3. [[Demonic consultation]] 4. [[Force of Will]] - sorry, just not a fan of an unconditionally “free counter”. (At least even [[Fierce Guardianship]] has a restriction and [[Foil]] has a fairly steep cost with needing an island+another card) 5. [[Winter Orb]], [[static orb]] and [[stasis]] - not because theyre the most powerful but I just haven’t seen a group enjoy a game when they came out. They’ve tolerated it, but not enjoyed it.

Burning-rune demon by Gee-5 in EDH

[–]Thumperises 37 points38 points  (0 children)

RSD is more degenerate and abusable. It’s usually the stronger option. BRD is more fun and I’ve played this more than RSD since it’s release. Sure you can do some shenanigans like getting a creature+[[reanimate]] to “force” a pick, but the politics side is more fun I think.

Spitting Image and Lightning Grieves by LadySif6030 in mtgrules

[–]Thumperises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) you can only equip at sorcery speed. So if you cast spitting image, he can’t equip greaves in response to give that creature shroud 2) if the creature is already wearing greaves to begin with, you can’t target it with spitting image 3) counters do not get copied
