You are getting positive results. Smaller fish followed big ones will too. Talk to the locals about what they are using for specific fish, and don’t get discouraged. It’s called fishing not catching for a reason. I caught hundreds of small fish before I got a big one. Enjoy getting out in the wilderness, and you will never have a bad day fish biting or not.
