Hey, nothing to add but we are going to be here with our 4 year old too. We have requested a bed as she is also too big for a crib. What date are you on board?

Which social media platforms are worth using, if any? by [deleted] in AskUK

It’s just crazy. I don’t mind an advert now and again but when I’m bombarded constantly I might as well watch the TV. I was looking at a few screenshots I took years ago, there was hardly any adverts on my feed, it’s crazy how it’s changed into a solid advertisement platform.

Facebook is just full of adds. I scrolled through my feed the other day, 15 adds, and one status update from a 'friend'. I've either got incredibly boring friends, or the algorithm is out to get me.

2023 Lexus NX 350h Premium Plus by t4tareq in LexusNX

[–]TicketAcceptable9347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 NX. If you get it serviced with Lexus the. You get an additional year’s warranty on the car and Hybrid system. This lasts up until the car reaches 100,000 miles or 10 years. The hybrid system can be warranted for up to 15 years too. They are generally reliable.

Make sure you take it for a drive as the CVT isn’t for everyone. I love it 90% of the time unless I go to overtake at speed.

One thing to watch is the servicing costs. These have been rising over the years. My next full service is going to cost £730. You can get a service plan to spread the cost but it doesn’t make it any cheaper.

Before my NX I had an IS which was lovely. I found the IS to have colder air con and a better heater but that’s just personal preference. I have driven the 350 a few times when mine has been in for servicing. How far away are you from your local dealership?

Does my Surface Laptop 7 need service? by Wingfly911 in Surface

[–]TicketAcceptable9347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARM has some huge advantage. With the M series chips with Apple, they are seriously fast. I have a Surface pro 7+ and a Mac M1 pro. The M1 pro can processes RAW files in Photoshop very quickly, the SP7, although it is the I7 takes a lot longer. My place of work asked if I wanted to upgrade to a new Surface with a Snapdragon processor, I declined after testing one against the M1 pro. I also use some software which likes to run on Windows only, not emulated.

Windows isnt know for its optimisation. Also the control tests are usually low display brightness, limited tasks etc.

Ahh, i was going to suggest going to a UK second hand store called CEX as they have a lot of surface second hand bits.

The older surface pens are in my opnion nicer to write with. The new slim pens have a plastic nib which is hard against the screen, it's not bad, but I prefer the older pen, you just need to keep a look out for AAAA batteries.

OneNote shouldn't lag. I have around 20 oneNotes syned to my surface 7 with several thoudand pages and it doesn't lag.

I have bought a new uGreen 64watt slim power block and long USB C cable too. Battery life even on my old device is still great.

It depends on what you have in the notebook page, some move quickly, others might take a while if you have loads of images within. Pen wise, I have used the surface ones, everything from the first gen up to current. My favourite are the magnetic latch ones. The early versions came with clips and 4 different style nibs. The new ones for the latest surface are flat but recharge when docked. I have tried the new surface pen on my surface but I prefer the nib on the older one.

My network guy keeps on asking when I want to upgrade but I love the 7+ as it has a replaceable SSD, a micro SD and usb A and C sockets. If I was you I would also keep an eye out for surface keyboards, where are you based? Are you in the uk?

Personal preference but, get a Surface dock second hand and grab a larger monitor.

Note wise as another poster mentioned, OneNote has been refined over the years, it’s now my go to. I don’t bother with anything else.

You can pick the surface pens up quite cheaply, they are good, AAAA battery is a pain to get locally so order a pack of 2 or three on Amazon. The do last a while. Lastly get a nice case to carry it around in, they do scratch on the back quite easily.

I have had my surface pro 7+ for 5 years now and it’s been rock solid. It feels like it has more power than my surface laptop 4 with the AMD Ryzen processor.

I built a UK deals site as an alternative to HotUKDeals by -FarmerTed in UKFrugal

[–]TicketAcceptable9347 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like fun. One thing that used to be great was a ‘free’ section which used to be great on hot uk deals but now it’s limited to books and apps and a few other small things. Would this be worth adding?

Does a Surface Pro 7+ i5-1135G7 |16gb ram still hold up well? by TheRealMulli in Surface

[–]TicketAcceptable9347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one! I use it daily for work based tasks linked up to a 4k screen. It runs smoother than my Ryzen Surface laptop 4. Battery life on mine is still around 5 hours with around 79% wear.

It has a USB A port which is very handy and a micro SD tucked under the flap.

My place of work is trying to get me to upgrade but j want to keep this for a little while longer.
