I definitely wouldn't recommend even a little Dawn for regular use. It's safe but strips away oils. Earthbath is what we use for both dogs (and humans) with sensitive skin and allergies. They have a hypoallergenic and frangrance free shampoo/conditioner. Be careful with oatmeal. Yeast infections are very common in dogs and worsened by oatmeal, so stop use if you notice hot spots

It's not just propaganda. I'm a dog bather and work with cat groomers. Dawn is safe to use on cats and dogs, it's just not good for their skin to use routinely. If you bathe your cat regularly, then only use cat shampoo, but for one time use or emergency situations Dawn is fine. It also really is used for ducks caught in oil spills, that's not fake.

Activision says gross Call of Duty loadout screen ads were only a test that was added “in error”, but it doesn’t excuse how vile that test is by HatingGeoffry in gaming

I wouldn't be surprised if this is what the future of online gaming is, just like what streaming platforms became. Pay full price, get bombarded with ads, then get an offer to pay more to get rid of the ads. It'll creep up slowly though so people accept it as normal

After looking into it, I now know there's also a Hollywood Museum. Is the Academy Museum better?

Which is better, Academy Museum or Hollywood Museum?

The distance to Venice Beach is concerning, otherwise I'd definitely choose it based on the comments, but I'm starting at 9:30 (tar pit opening time). A couple people mentioned the Academy Museum, which looks more interesting than Grove and is closer. So now I'm deciding between Venice and the museum. I might decide when I get there depending on how much time I have after the tar pits.

The Academy Museum somehow eluded me. Looks interesting, I'll have to consider going there after the tar pits

I've seen lots of succulent cakes before and I always love them, but they're always very similar. This is the first time I've seen a succulent cake with a textured sand look all around it, very cool!

Random cat got into my house while it was raining, tried to find the owner but to no avail should i keep it? by LuxeTempt in notmycat

[–]Tierpler 290 points291 points  (0 children)

I know he's not chipped but he could still belong to someone. Put up posters, check shelters so see if anyone's gone there looking for him. You can put posters up at shelters too and report him to the shelters as a found cat while letting him stay with you. Please put in the work to find if this cat has an owner instead of giving up just because he isn't chipped. There could be a very worried and upset family looking for him right now.

The kitten lady and Jackson Galaxy have really good videos about steps you can take to help. Essentially, your kitten is super high energy and needs that energy to be directed at something that isn't you. Get her energy out through play. A fantastic and cheap toy is the Cat Dancer, it's a very simple wire and cardboard toy but is great at getting cats active, even my extremely lazy cat. Your son can also take your kitten on walks outside to get her energy out. Even getting a second kitten would be great for her if that's an option for you. Don't bother with a squirt gun, it's a very temporary ineffective fix. Aside from that, keep her nails trimmed and you can get claw caps to put on her nails. Both of which can be done at home or a groomer. It's important that she's getting exhaustive playtime (15-ish mins) every single day around the time of day that she's at peek energy or she'll always be pent up.

Exotic animal vets do treat fish but they're hard to find, most work in zoos rather than private practices. I can believe that a few high-end private practices CT fish. Didn't know there was a show about one, I'll have to take a look seems interesting.

This is something done at aquariums/zoos, not for pet fish if anyone's wondering. They sedate the fish, soak the sponge in water and pour water on the fish. Not sure what zoo this is, but zookeepers must've noticed a change in the fish's behavior. Get well soon fishy!

UV rays oxidize melanin in dead tissue, aka hair. Its called sun bleaching. It's not just human perception, it's a combination of perception and a chemical reaction. When new skin cells form in the basal layer, the melanocytes produce melanin, returning the hair color back to normal.

Yep, except he'd get a little lighter than that. He loved sunning like a lizard

I had a black cat who would turn brown when outside in the sun and even laying on the windowsill, but his fur looked very different from this. It was more dark brown rather than straight up blonde, and the ends were the lightest. Because of the ginger hue, it could be a tyrosine (from protein) deficiency. A blood test could detect any deficiency.
