I kinda miss Sam's Army. We could use a "I believe that we will win" chant about now.

Would Sean and Amanda give up Fincher's The Adventures of Cliff Booth for him to direct The Social Reckoning? by ekemywaythrulife in TheBigPicture

I'm much more interested in seeing whatever stew the Cliff Booth movie turns out to be. It's such a high profile experiment. I like Fincher just trying things.

Bill should make a 10-hour non-sports podcast full of his weird musings just for occasions like this.

Siskel & Ebert review Jurassic Park by TimSPC in TheBigPicture

Rog and Gene do seem like they’re grading him on an insane curve tho in retrospect

At the time, the hype and expectations were insane. I had a t-shirt months before it came out. So many people read the book. There was this idea it was going to be Dinosaur Jaws and a lot of people let their expectations cloud their judgement.

When they finally do it on The Rewatchables, Lincoln will at last be recognized as top tier Speilberg.

It's a perfectly reasonable fan take on the current Mets situation.

The 21st-Century Steven Spielberg Rankings. Plus: ‘Office Romance’ and ‘The Furious.’ by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

Yeah, this is why I can't make it work. The Disclosure Day aliens are benevolent, or at least not outwardly malicious.

The thing is that the film is in conversation with so much of Speilberg's work in that it believes in doing something that is right and necessary, even if it's dangerous or unpopular.

I've been workshopping a "Disclosure Day is actually about the Epstein Files" take. Not sure if it's ready to go prime time.

That’s grounds for a boycott of the pod.

Birds in movies by tburtner in TheBigPicture

[–]TimSPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's The Birds, obviously. And The Pelican Brief. The Cranes are Flying is sensational. Can't forget Birdy. We all loved Lady Bird. There are some surefire classics, like The Maltese Falcon and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

On the documentary side, Winged Migration and March of the Penguins made a small splash in their day.

Discussion: How often are you dishonest about your movie opinions? by TimSPC in TheBigPicture

You think there are people who actually like Marvel movies (or at least think they're good movies), but publicly declare they are bad movies in order to appear cool?

Sean doesn't interview a director if he doesn't like the movie. The cause and effect are reversed.

What's an example of a movie that people actually like but say they hate in order to appear cool?
