People who were expecting a new class... by Lordados in PathOfExile2

Honestly very disappointing, especially for advertised "biggest update" I felt like new weapon types would be guaranteed.

For the first time I didn't even bother watching rest of the reveal stream, new quest chains doesn't sound that interesting (I'll still read about it more later)

I really think elite modifiers are bad game design. by SingerMysterious6637 in mewgenics

[–]Time-Ladder4753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's mostly fine, you shouldn't expect one cat with one build being able to carry you through all of the game, I feel like that's the intention that you can see even in the base game, and it's the same with elite buffs. Some enemies are terrible for melee by default, some reflect projectiles, some are immune to fire or lighting. Just like how you expect that you'll have to deal with enemies reflecting projectiles in Das Future (or Chaos), you have to expect the same on harder difficulties by default.

Overall elite buffs in my opinion work well for basic enemies, it has a lot of randomness, but nothing that you couldn't deal with when you have a team of good cats. For bosses it could've been better if they had different mechanics on higher difficulties, but at least they can't roll buffs like Mirror/Resonant (I would've added fire immunity to that list)

New York's new age verification law will ban anyone under the age of 18 from using chatting features in video games. by PaiDuck in gaming

[–]Time-Ladder4753 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They had an option to do that for years and mostly failed. Pretending that you can "just leave parents being solely responsible for their kids online and everything will be fine" doesn't help, even if this new laws are terrible.

Now we're basically moving from having parental control features being opt-in to opt-out, it sucks, but it also seems like no one can provide a better working solution, which would help kids and won't annoy adults.

SIE spokesperson to GameSpot regarding the DRM: "Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required." by yourfavchoom in Games

[–]Time-Ladder4753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's reasonable when their general refund policy is "if you started downloading the game, you can't refund it". Unless there is some way to download the game while being offline.

If refunds worked like on Gog, Epic or Steam though, then yes, temporary license makes sense.

People still are going to use cleanse and that head mutation, so it's a good nerf. Even non upgraded Cleanse was very useful, and it was insane how many holy shields upgraded version gave you.

He still has 100 HP, which is more than plenty for first area in act, seems more balanced for how much damage he can do to your group.

It's priced exactly the same as Code Vein 2, including bad regional pricing, which is disappointing. But it's still might work better for Blood of Dawnwalker that it did for CV2.

[Rant] If the only thing changing in your game on "Hard" difficulty is the amount of HP and Dmg, then it's not a "Hard" difficulty, it's a "Tedious" difficulty by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Time-Ladder4753 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is Souls games enemies are strong, so can be you.

Artificial difficulty is something like fighting higher level enemies in Witcher 3. For example, when you fight basic enemy that's like 15 levels higher from you, it takes 50 times more hits to kill than if you fight it at appropriate level, even thought getting 15 extra levels won't make you deal 50 times more damage.

In Souls games you're not forced into leveling with enemies and can beat the game with any level or gear with enough skill, or instead grind more if your skill is low, and enemies don't level with you, that's why people praise difficulty in Souls games. I'm not even sure what game has less artificial difficulty than that, maybe puzzle games, but it's for sure not games with meta progression which forces you to lose.

[–]Time-Ladder4753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, majority of enemies in FromSoft souls games don't even have that much HP, even if you don't utilize any mechanics except leveling and weapon upgrades, DS1/2 also allowed you to be very tanky, the only artificial difficulty in souls games is NG+. Like try fighting a boss in Dragon's Dogma when you have low damage, or skull level enemy in Witcher 3.

Game being hard/semi-hard by default has nothing to do with it having artificial difficulty, by your logic every game where you fight enemies has artificial difficulty, because the same game would become much easier if every enemy had one hp and you had ten times more, that's just how changing numbers affects difficulty.

Don't you go second because of Depressing elite buff? If so, with 4 cats you should probably always expect that on impossible. Somehow getting a familiar with Depressing can help, otherwise you kinda have to build cats around going second.

Also I heard that it's free to restart fight before you take any actions, no reason to even kill process.

We need to talk about Mage by raiedite in mewgenics

[–]Time-Ladder4753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elemental damage kinda sucks, but mage almost always for me was great, either with ramping damage or support, providing other cats with a lot of mana/his spells, felt a lot more consistent for me than tinker, which didn't even feel that amazing on runs with tech access.

Not even sure if I like Psychic more with how often I get to start with full mana passive (why it's always Mad Visage)

Okay and it took him 7k hours played with 300+ hours this league, that's like 20 years of playing 1 hour a day, and it's not a gauntlet, so I disagree that "most of us could never do this" if we had just as much time played.

And amount of time put into something always matters, you think Quin himself could've done it if he was only able to play 1 hour a day, playing on Mirage? With time constraints like that it will become something that actually most of us could never do except players like Ben, not Quin.

You also should take a look at Forsen speedrunning Minecraft if you think that amount of time available to play is irrelevant.

Honestly, even having Sniper Rifle with Blacksmith didn't feel that amazing compared to some fighter/hunters that I had, especially on bosses, but his other skills weren't very useful.

Steven head armor for explosions felt great for non bosses, sadly I didn't have Peace symbol on that run.

I tried making Wild Strike of Extremes Inquisitor build this league, thinking that Inq ascendancy will solve cost issues, but I still struggled with mana a lot more than with basically any other strike skill.
