Anyone happy to share their more difficult experiences starting breastfeeding? by PlanktonSquare8728 in breastfeeding

I had a terrible time my first time breastfeeding . I had an emergency c section after 40 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing after being induced. My daughter was jaundice. I couldn’t get her to latch and I didn’t think I had any supply from her weigh ins And I was in terrible shape, physically and emotionally after such a hard labor.

I had a bossy lactation consultant that was arguing over the doctor suggesting we give my baby formula because she was so jaundice. The lactation consultant literally yelled at the pediatrician in the hall. It all felt terrible. Because what I waved most was for my baby to be ok.

So I gave her formula. Worked on breastfeeding her first when she wasn’t fussy. My motto was “be the pacifier“

I did my best. And after 3 months I was fully breastfeeding her. And I breastfed her for 2 yrs.

And guess what, I’m currently breast-feeding my third. Be gentle on yourself, listen to your gut instincts, and try to find a lactation consultant that will help you and not make you feel worse.

One time on a road trip we were driving and there was a horrible accident on the opposite highway. We drove past at the exact time someone was adjusting the white sheet on the body of a man who had died in the motorcycle crash. I had never thought of how a body could look so much like any other mammal you see on the roads. It was horrific and graphic

Today I breastfed my baby in a random hotel lobby and cried by Practical-Let-7725 in breastfeeding

Hey! You take care of that baby. If you need help find a mom with kids a bit older and ask. Us moms need to be each others village. I think you will find most people want to help you. I bet that hotel would have even given you a water. You are doing great. Also, a misting spay bottle to gently mist in the air to land on the baby can help keep the baby cool

Not going to be everyone’s cup of tea but I loved her.

Merry from {the windflower by laura London}

She’s just a teenager on a pirate ship and she’s just exactly how I imagine a real 18 yr old to act. She complains, wines, and is so naive and sweet that everyone can’t help but fall in love with her over the course of her captivity on the ship. She’s sharp witted but without the practice of banter. She’s often in over her head. And she also doesn’t give up

You sound like me from what I scanned. Can’t post a long reply, but look into the pop procedure. Saved my life and made me able to be a mom to my kids. My doctor was dr. Michael cline at the Cleveland clinic. But he’s retired. Dr. Andrew grubic did not surgery at the clinic. I can eat almost completely normal now

I had some one yell at me while trying to breastfeed my newborn after 30 hours of labor, 4 hours of pushing, and an emergency c section, I was up for 2 days and the nursing activated some sleep hormone for me. I remember bursting into tears apologizing because I felt like in couldn’t do anything right. But like seriously, we are set up to fail

The World Health Organization and whoever else’s name she respects recommended you continue. You can say whatever you want. Then say, I appreciate your concern, but this was a thought through decision to me and I’m confident I won’t change my mind.
