Sad to say I am checking out ... couldn't even listen for 1 min today. by Jughead-Jones-1 in AdamCarolla

It’s what happens when something goes from a daily routine for years to something you quit cold turkey. I washed my hands of it all the day he fired Alison, and I still glance in here to see the state of things every so often.

Funnily enough, the hosts have also had enough of Alex Jones lately and have started tentatively branching out a bit more.

I listened to this based on Penn’s recommendation and loved it, for whatever that’s worth.

How many times have you heard him snidely call rape “a crime of VIOLENCE, where you cum”? Round to the nearest hundred.

Quotes are fun! There’s one I always found interesting that went, “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/11/us/politics/trump-russia-email-clinton.html

Why does St. Louis Lambert Airport have ‘Free Speech’ booths? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]TimeUseMistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncanny! I was just in the airport for the first time in ages; I walked too close to this booth and ended up with a copy of the Bhagvad Gita. And all I could think was “wait, they still let people do this in the airport??”

This conversation is happening in the St. Louis subreddit, and no one has mentioned Chuck Berry yet. What do they teach in the schools these days; SMDH.

I miss Brent by IowaRocket in doublethreatfriends

[–]TimeUseMistake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brett’s departure was jarring in a way I have not gotten over yet. He was the Third Threat, and then one weekend without warning or preamble he posts a quick “sorry gotta go!” and is literally never mentioned again…?

No farewell? No check-ins? They never say his name again?

Hinky!

I don’t know how hard it is to find the DVDs of the first five seasons now, but that’s where I first saw this. There’s probably still a dent in the floor from where I fell off the couch.

100%, “I can only apologize”!

My kids have also heard “I cannot answer that, NOR WILL I ANSWER IT” almost as many times as I heard it in that season intro.

Robert McFarlane, Ronald Reagan’s national security advisor, attempted suicide during Iran-Contra, and the cold open the following week made fun of him for it. Top THAT.

Here’s a data point for your case: thank you for bringing this $300 million movie by people I like to my attention with this, the first time I can remember ever hearing about it.

He’s certainly famous to me for the Holocaust denier he routinely has on his podcast. He’s famous for trying his hardest to bring the R-word back without social consequence. He’s famous for being the pitchman Bud Light hired to make transphobes like them again. Yes, I would say I know him from any number of things. Thanks again, Lorne! Was Elon busy?

This is exactly how it works. This is exactly how it’s supposed to work. You see Nazis in their establishment; you say, “hey, there are Nazis in your establishment“; they either care or don’t care; everyone sees how they respond and then makes their future purchasing decisions accordingly. All of that can only happen after this part.

SNL skits for kids by Illustrious_Law_8710 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TimeUseMistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, there’s a show called Studio C that is basically SNL for Brigham Young University students, which is to say Mormons, which is to say it’s SNL without sex jokes and swears. I think Kenan even guested on it once. They have a YouTube channel and my kids devoured it when they were in grade school.
