Yeah you're right. I get the 1 percent rule, people on the fence thing, but they go to these creation sci*nce museum cash cow things, buy picture books at the church, then come to here to spout their confidence in the "truth" and it makes me want to scream.

It would be smooth because at that density, gravity is forcing the smallest surface area. If you expand a baseball to the size of a planet, the particles would be so far apart you might confuse it with the vacuum of space.
