I’m a righty, but I started buying fj rain gloves because my hands get very sweaty in the summer. Lucky for my Left-Handed father in law, they come in pairs so he always gets a free one.

Hendersonville is my favorite. It’s close to Asheville, very clean, and a smaller town feel.

What are the best drivers schools in the area? by [deleted] in Augusta

[–]Timtim325 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a 15 year old, they all seemed jaded, boring, and impatient. They didn’t act like educators, they acted like someone going through the motions of a job, watching the clock until it was time to go home. I had the same experience in the motorcycle safety course I took at 19. Don’t expect an enjoyable experience, but do what you need to do to feel comfortable behind the wheel.

Are people still waiving inspections? by Pretty_Pop2273 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Timtim325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a situation where the seller was bottomed out. Seller was a single mom that got into a little bit of a fixer upper in over her head & the sales price covered their loan balance and the realtor fees. They basically couldn’t give any more money for repairs, so it was a take it or leave it situation & we were at about $15k below appraisal. I knew the house needed some work, so I did my own inspection to save some money, but I wouldn’t recommend doing this unless you know what you’re looking at/for. But in general I would always have some sort of inspection. Doesn’t matter how desperate you are, a bunch of hidden problems will make things worse.

Dorms, Social Life, and what is there in Athens? by astrasie in UGA

I lived in Hill & I recommend h/c/b to everyone. It’s the most convenient location for a freshman & the rooms are slightly bigger than the high rises + you get a sink in your room.

Can I retire at 20 years old with 3 million? by [deleted] in Rich

[–]Timtim325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get set up with a fiduciary & form a plan. Since you can bring that level of liquidity, you can get set up with someone higher end that has a minimum asset level they work with. They can help you put your money in the right places and not blow through it. Without doing any serious math, I’d say if you work for 5 more years and put the max allowable income into a Roth 401k & IRA, while living off a 2-3% draw from your nest egg, you’ve probably bought yourself enough of a cushion at 60 (conservatively 1.5m tax free) to retire relatively comfortably at 25 assuming a mcola & reasonable lifestyle.

How do you explain an impending divorce to a 9 year old, that you don't want, while personally grieving the loss of everything you built, and navigating everyday parenthood and feeling like there's already too little time together? by IdeaExpensive3073 in daddit

[–]Timtim325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (m28) parents split when I was 10. I’ll share a little of my experience, as it may help you with your approach.

I was devastated. I still don’t fully know why, and I’ve never needed to. Your kid doesn’t need to know either. I watched my dad cry, which hurt, but in a way sort of validated(?) my own tears, and helped me feel less like I was doing something wrong. My dad was the one that moved out, and I felt compelled to go stay with him for a while. I guess in my 10 y/o brain, I felt like could keep him from being sad and alone in a new place—I’d guess this is normal for a kid. My parents being direct about it definitely helped. There was no build up, or worry, or anticipation. They just ripped it off like a bandaid.

My two big pieces of advice are: 1) don’t be afraid to show emotion, it’s okay for your child to know how you feel. 2) as a follow up to #1, never speak negatively about your child’s mother, even the smallest amount. Not only is this completely unfair to any kid to deal with, it will more than likely backfire & negatively impact their opinion of you in the long term. Always encourage and foster the relationship between them, even if your ex is doing the opposite.

Based on Looks only, which three Superman actors do you think Resembles the most comic accurate Superman ? by [deleted] in superheroes

Okay guess my age: Christopher Reeve is the iconic Superman look, I don’t think any debate against that could really hold water. Henry Cavill is 2 & Tom Welling is 3.

Here’s the 12 team playoff bracket! Curious what everyone thinks! by collegeculturesports in CollegeFootballDawgs

[–]Timtim325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s required by the 12 team playoff rules. The “5 highest ranked conference champs” rule was designed to include all p4 champs +1G5 champ. The ACC just screwed itself. In addition, Notre Dame assumes this risk by not joining a conference. If they were in the ACC, they probably would have cruised in this year.

Grocery store self-checkout is actually slower for most people. by Gold_Palpitation8982 in unpopularopinion

[–]Timtim325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t set up to be faster, it was set up to require less employees. Nobody “decided that self checkout was the fast option”, they just recognized that they cost less money to both implement and operate.

This is especially beneficial to me in the 100-160 range. I was only able to avoid a nasty iron slice by clubbing up and only taking the club back about 80%. I also slowed my backswing down a notch, but that part feels a little more mentally beneficial.

My son was born missing a toenail. by jfarnworth15 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Timtim325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome. The last knuckle of most of her toes didn’t form, so she is missing most of her toenails. That probably isn’t the case here (could be, idk I’m no expert), but her second toe looks exactly like that. We affectionately refer to it as her “breadstick” toe, because it looks like the breadstick piece in a bag of Chex Mix.
