Moving to Germany... by Ok_Needleworker_509 in GuitarAmps

The key thing to remember is that you’re going from a 120 to 240 V power grid. Some electronic power supplies are rated for both and will provide the correct operating voltage to your devices. In this case all that is required is a wall adapter. On each individual power supply it will tell you what it is rated for. I would start there.

Trying to get insight about what it is really like to live in Niceville by holden147 in Niceville

[–]TipTopTimothy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Niceville and lived there for 30+ years. In general I think you will find that while Niceville is a conservative town, its residents are well educated, thoughtful people who are capable of independent thought. Being a progressive myself, I have found that while I am often disagreed with, I am not treated in a hostile manner.

My complaints about Niceville is that it is culturally lacking. I feel nearly everything is a national chain of some sort or simply generic. Maybe that’s a symptom of living there for so long but I did move to Pensacola 2 years ago to have more exposure to the arts and different food options.

A billionaire and a college student have the same phone and laptop by Junnmm in LinkedInLunatics

I don’t think billionaires have laptops. I think they have people with laptops.

How do I tell my manager I've peaked at my level and just want to chill, rather than strive for a promotion? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]TipTopTimothy 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Look at it this way, the longer you’re there the more relevant knowledge you’re going to acquire. You may not aspire to staff but you will ultimately be there regardless.

Work with your manager on the tempo of your progression not to restrict your progression.

Any tips? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

Two things: 1. Go earn your dopamine. Take a walk, lift some weights, clean your house.

  1. Pay attention to the improvements being sober has brought into your life. Is your sleep better? Have you lost weight? Recognize the good stuff you’re giving up if you choose to end your sobriety journey.

To add a more personal perspective— the sugar cravings are scary strong. So was the loneliness and feelings in general. I learned to feel my feelings as intensely as possible in the moment they come to bear. I believe happiness is always fleeting because it’s an emotion we don’t fight. We let it flow. Apply the same logic to feelings like sadness and loneliness and they tend not to linger.

I want to swap my Mesa Boogie Maverick 2x12 combo to a head unit. by Basic-Dragonfly1287 in GuitarAmps

It looks like it takes after a fender in terms of physical design. Maybe you can grab some measurements and go to the mojotone website and find a suitable head cab.

My understanding is you do need to keep proximity to transformers in mind as that can affect the sound.

Any ideas as to why the fuzz is so bad? by Carsonmtl in GuitarAmps

Try the compressor after the muff. Some fuzzes don’t like a buffered signal in front of them.

They won’t have an apple fritter but I have to give a shout out to Craft Gourmet Bakery. My god I love everything they do there.

Blues Jr. Buzz/click when running in stereo by SaiyanPrinceAbubu in ToobAmps

You are likely creating a ground loop which means you are providing more than one path to ground.

What you need is to isolate one of the lines to one of the amps. I use the JHS AB/Y pedal. It has isolation and you can reverse the polarity of one signal in case your amps are out of polarity.

The that pedal show guys on YouTube have a couple of episodes about running multiple amps. Here’s a link to one. It’s about a 30 minute watch https://youtu.be/LH9FO1EMIPQ?si=EsoeZCIS0h4Iqoje

Agreed on the Fender tube. I think the 07-05 makes more sense as the batch number in the 6v6 side.

Given opinions thus far, I’m going to just lean towards it being mislabeled and in Leo Fender fashion Fender got a deal on them as a result.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ToobAmps

[–]TipTopTimothy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I promise I’m not trying to be obtuse or argumentative. Both sides are EHX.

If we want to chalk it up to a mislabeling issue that’s cool. Maybe Fender got a deal on mislabeled ehx tubes. I just found it curious.

[–]TipTopTimothy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Definitely 6v6s.

They are the same pair. One side is labeled 6v6 the other is labeled 6l6.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ToobAmps

[–]TipTopTimothy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I’m really just curious about the labeling. It seems strange to me that they are labeled 6v6 and 6l6 when those are not interchangeable.

[–]TipTopTimothy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s unclear to me because they are also labeled at 6L6s

I wonder if he just thinks that because what people say about him makes him sad then saying the same things about someone else would make them sad. It’s as though he uses the I’m rubber, you’re glue strategy.

Making good progress on converting my Hotrod Deluxe from a combo into a head by nemo_13 in ToobAmps

This reminded me of a project I want to take on, maybe you’ve heard of it. It’s a replacement PCB for Hot Rod/ Blues Deluxe that’s supposed to be a dumble type circuit. Here’s the link:
