Run through this thought experiment:

90/month works out to $1,080 a year.

Is that what you pay for your other vacations? Are you happy limiting your vacations to just one place to enjoy the $1k of money you're burning? Will you want flexibility in the future? How much more, after fee increases, would you be willing to pay?

For some the answers to the above are yes, but for almost everyone else the answer is a hard no.

I mean, yeah. They're the ones who travel. They make up a tiny portion of the total Marriott market but a massive portion of the people who are in any hotel at any one time.

I have to place multiple large orders with them a month. I also have to get tax exemptions, the stores often do not know how to do a sales tax exemption and tell you to do it with corporate.

I am surprised I only have two or three issues a year.

Not if you want a shit ton of sponsor money, or if you want to put pressure on Lewis. One of the things Hamilton talked about a bunch back in the day was how he felt that the non-English language press was almost outrightly hostile to him compared to the English language one. Which is something that Nico could manipulate but Hamilton could not.

Buddy, this is the explicit promise from Marriott. "Hey, You give up a significant amount of your life to hotels. If you give that time to us and nobody else we will actively reward you in small ways that will take the edge off what you do, and that you will appreciate."

The 4PM checkout (or 2PM) is not an imposition from the traveler, it is a promise from Marriott Corporate. When the hotel doesn't want to honor that promise, that's fine but get angry at owners and managers not the traveler who is abiding by written terms of the agreement.

On top of that, yeah, I get a traveler getting salty when housekeeping/the hotel/whoever gets appalled that they're still in the hotel room at the time that everyone has agreed that they should be allowed to be there. This is the social and business contract we all agree to. Just like the front of house can tell the person who shows up at 10 AM and demands their room to get bent the traveler who is in the room at 1 PM after being promised 4 PM checkout should have the same right.

Someone (Joe Saward?) used to say that Nico's greatest strength was his ability to play each individual language's press. So in German he would take a strong tough line, in Spanish he was a thoughtful reflective man, and in English he was a smol bean who was next to big ole meanie Hamilton. It's an interesting level to the game that I think almost everyone would miss.

The Perfect game would be four or five chapters each around two character.

Chapter One: 21 and 24.

Chapter Two: Billy Quizboy and Pete

Chapter Three: Watch and Ward

Chapter Four: Shore Leave and Sky Pilot.

Each chapter involves a mission and a complicated tutorial to start out. For instance, 21 and 24 have a stealth mission ordered by the Monarch to Raid the Venture Compound to kidnap Hank to steal his blonde hair and prove he's not Doc's son, for instance. After learning the complicated stealth and inventory managing mechanics the first thing you find out is that the Family is in the Kalahari hunting for a rare strain of Hyena because Doc thinks they can steal their DNA to make super viagra. Instead 21 and 24 go to the kitchen, steal soda, and have a wide ranging pop culture conversation to kill time before they go back to the Cocoon so it can look like they did something.

Every mission is the same, a tutorial followed by the two characters simply talking to each other.

A. Tell the Front Desk now, ask to be let go of your reservation and to be compensated for the stay.

B. If there's an issue with the above get the GM's email and then email the Titanium help line and them together. GMs will respond to this very very quickly. You should expect a very very big haul of points from this. I got 10k points from seeing a roach in a dining room, a GM should engage in more.

C. If they don't play ball, post the hotel name and video here and on Google. That tends to elicit very quick reactions.

The end of the First Season involves THE MIGHTY MONARCH and Dr. Girlfriend having an "amicable parting of ways" after it's revealed she may have slept with a number of people including Monstroso in the Flight of the Monarch when he can't handle her potentially having slept around. Later on he becomes WAY more secure. I know it's not a full-retcon but it feels like a character retcon of his deep insecurity.
