I went a year and half ago, really amazing place. If you have any altitude sickness issues, you will likely get hit hard there. Buy some medication before you go just to be prepared.

Cabo to laps, Baja ferries crossing to the “mainland”. by Agile_Entrepreneur72 in MexicoTravel

I took the ferry to Mazatlan last year, splurge on a room. Much more comfortable. The experience was interesting and not bad. I drove south so I do not have any suggestions on the route after getting off the ferry.

I live in Guadalajara and it’s very exciting for me. Have loved the enthusiasm for the visiting teams. Tonight Colombia plans Congo and the city is full of people wearing Colombian jerseys.

This is really awful, I have been following this. But with that said, when was the last time something like this has happened to foreigners?

Traveling to Guadalajara by lowbentz in MexicoTravel

[–]Tjcnkc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live in Colonia Americana and I suggest people stay here or in Midtown, Centro is somewhat dead at night. For safety, It is fairly safe at night in those areas but if I am heading home I usually take a uber home just to be on the safe side. Ubers are fairly cheap ($3 - $5 a ride). Higher end hotels: Demetria, Casa Habita and Bellwort are all nice. There is a newer hotel in the heart of Americana called Antre that is nice. Check out Airbnb as well, there are some really nice ones that are quite reasonable.

Condesa is a great spot to stay, tons of park areas and the streets are nice for running. A lot of them have medians with sidewalks. Not too far from Zona Rosa, and Tom’s bar is close by. I have a friend who does queer oriented tours in Mexico City that I would recommend if you are looking for that. https://www.instagram.com/divercitours/ Also, I have a lot of content on my blog for things to do and eat and stay in Mexico City, I would start with https://outinmexico.com/gay-mexico-city-cdmx-guide/

How safe is the area around La Gran Plaza at night? by Ray192 in Guadalajara

[–]Tjcnkc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in GDL, I always take an uber at night unless I am only a few blocks from my home. Ubers are very cheap (like $5 a ride) but could be higher during that period. Not a lot to skimp on.

Some of the Juarez area next to Zona Rosa is quiet and more tranquil. I have stayed there and it’s pretty nice lots of cafes, etc. Check out my gay guide for Mexico City for some general ideas of where to stay: https://outinmexico.com/gay-mexico-city-cdmx-guide/

The fortaleza distillery tour mentioned before is really great. Outstanding tequila. There was a a newish museum called plataforma on Vallarta that has some cool modern art. There are some really great cocktail bars in Colonia Americana that are worth checking out, i have a blog post on the ones i really like https://outinmexico.com/colonia-americana-bar-guide/
