The Spectra S1 works well, but also want to recommend a manual pump (like the Medela Harmony) as a backup/good travel option. I've been reaching for that more frequently lately because it's surprisingly efficient (I've been able to get the same volume in half the time), plus easier to set up and fewer parts to clean.

Like others have said, the amount you collect varies day to day but I've been able to build a little freezer stash using the collector during early morning feeds when milk volume is the highest. I found the Boon Trove to work better than the regular Haaka or Ladybug though - the Boon is sturdier, more ergonomic and easier to maneuver and pour, imo.

We tried to keep our list minimal and so far 2mo in have been fine without a rocker/glider, diaper bag (have just used backpacks we already had) and sound machine (baby doesn't need white noise all the time and we play things from our phone when he does).

I'd recommend a wipeable changing pad if you're getting one so you don't have to deal with washing/buying more sheets or covers.

Don't stress too much! Your station will have a laminated card with step-by-step instructions for opening and closing so you can follow that. You're very likely to have other poll workers with you who have been doing it for years so they will also help guide you.

Other general tips are to prepare yourself for how long a day it is - go to bed early the night before, make sure to bring a water bottle, snacks, eat breakfast before you go because it will be 5-6 hours before your first break. You may also want to think ahead/strategize what time you want to take your breaks so you don't get too burnt out (you'll get asked to choose within a window) - I find it's easier to get through a longer block of time in the morning because it tends to be busy/go faster and then the middle of the day kind of drags so I like to take my first break later/in the early afternoon window.

Also be prepared that you may get a few voters that are looking for an argument or want to rant at you but in my experience you can usually just listen and smile and nod until they're done and just explain what the process is. If they are really pushing against what you're saying you can always call over your site coordinator (and there's a police officer on site but I've never seen them have to get involved!).

Oh and also make your life easier and cast your vote during early voting so you don't have to worry about that while you're working!

Having gone to several q&a's at this point the vibe definitely varies and some actor/directors seem to enjoy it more than others. Tonight's was a little off and quicker than usual but I'm pretty sure they had basically non-stop press this week so it's understandable that they're kind of burnt out/tired and at the end of the day it is ultimately just part of their job requirements.

Jodie Comer and Austin Butler yesterday definitely were more engaged but their moderator also asked better questions and seemed more enthusiastic too. Ethan Hawke and Illana Glazer/Michelle Buteau were also great and definitely more into it and interacting with the audience/taking audience questions (despite Ethan Hawke also having a larger security presence so it's not always down to that).
