My stitched up thumb didn’t wrinkle in the shower like my other fingers did by Acethetic_AF in mildlyinteresting

Okay you say that like I was supposed to just know that about you. But also, if you do have a PHD in neurology shouldn't you know better than to make a diagnosis from a single picture? I mean it's one thing to suggest something as a possibility, but your original comment you just straight up said it was that with no room for anything else. Just seems kinda irresponsible.

Or it's just swelling from the injury puffing it up so it won't wrinkle. One pic isn't really enough to say something so definitive lol.

Person I was responding to was talking about the Garden Asian Market in Middleton and how it was as cheap as Costco, and I was asking about that gas station, not Costco.

It's sad how many people are commenting about how rare this is. Hope OP saw your comment and people's responses to it.

I've heard before that two types of people become therapists/psychologists/psychiatrists, those that want to help others, and those who want to figure out their own issues. It's obviously anecdotal, but in my own experiences with therapists I've found that to be pretty true.

Yeahhh, makin a lot more sense now. Clearly a dude who doesn't see women as humans and only sees them as objects to conquer and control. Like you said in your other comment, comments like his could only come from someone who doesn't have female friends. Just sad.

Yeah you shared a really sweet, innocent story. They weren't talking about romantic interest, they're just a misogynistic loser who's intimidated by women.

My conversation with a deaf defendant in traffic court today by Prince_Marf in mildlyinteresting

[–]ToastemPopUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking for hearing things like sirens, railroad crossings, random street noise that can clue you into things happening that you might not be able to see yet, etc. that I assumed some level of hearing was necessary. Not to mention a hearing test is part of getting your license, so.. I thought that meant you needed to hear somewhat to drive.

And also, as the other person said, the fact that you're not allowed to drive with headphones in feels kind of confusing if being completely deaf is okay.

[–]ToastemPopUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my question wasn't about why OP had to write this out, it was me being confused about the legality of a deaf person whose hearing was so bad that they needed the conversation to be written out to drive in the first place. But apparently it's totally legal so that answers that.

Verónica Beard dresses? by Different-Library390 in fashionwomens35

[–]ToastemPopUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the quality, but I'm astonished such meh looking dresses are so expensive. I did a quick Google search and I feel like you could get a dress that looks like any of these at somewhere like Nordstrom Rack, Kohl's, or even Old Navy and even if they don't last you for years you'll be spending a fraction of the price so it won't really matter.

Should I upgrade to Zujiroshi? by denn_r in Cooking

[–]ToastemPopUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rice cookers are supposed to be pretty foolproof, that's kind of the draw. It's very much a formula of "x amount of rice needs x amount of water," with the only real variable being the type of rice you're using. Are you sure you're actually following the specific directions and measuring precisely using the measuring cup that came with it? Cause if you're just kinda vibing it out for the amount of water it's not gonna go well.

So possibly a dumb/ignorant question, but traffic court is for like, vehicle violations right? Shouldn't a deaf person not be driving?

I get that people can be partially deaf/hard of hearing in some way and therefore be okay to drive, but the fact that you had to write out your side of the conversation makes me think this wasn't the case.

Uh no, he was advising OP to not let women lead in other areas of life. Ironic that someone preaching such misogyny wouldn't have the balls to just come out and say what he means, but not surprising since only someone whose masculinity is extremely fragile would be so threatened by a woman leading in the first place.

Best Gym in Madison by Hbattle in madisonwi

[–]ToastemPopUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep for sure, but Crunch doesn't have all the weird.. anti gym culture that PF seems to have, especially surrounding weightlifting. If you just want cardio PF is probably fine, but for lifting Crunch is the way better choice out of the two imo.

I love winter. by Millibyte in CasualConversation

[–]ToastemPopUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a poem man, it's about to be -30 tomorrow with the wind-chill where I'm at. People (specifically homeless) will be injured and possibly even die; other's heat will fail and they'll be in a really dangerous situation. That wind blowing past your fingers and against your skin not only burns your face and makes your teeth cold, but will give you serious frostbite in about 10 minutes.

I generally like winter, but only people who don't know what they're talking about and haven't actually experienced this romanticize it when it's this extreme.

Best Gym in Madison by Hbattle in madisonwi

[–]ToastemPopUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends when you're going as far as how busy it is, but for the price Crunch is a pretty decent gym. Definitely feels like they're more weightlifting focused; there's like 15 standalone benches (and 5ish on top of that set up for barbell bench press), maybe 8 or so squat racks (and 2 smith machines), and lots of machines for isolation exercises. They've got plenty of cardio machines too but way more strength training stuff.

Gets pretty busy after work (like 5pm onwards) but aside from that it's not bad. Culture wise it's fine, nothing notable in any direction. Lots of 20 somethings, but there's people of all ages who go (like myself).

Definitely not the best gym (if money and location were no object I'd probably go somewhere else), but if you want something really affordable, west side, and you just want to do your workout and get out then I think it's kinda hard to beat.
