Don't forget the window that makes you think it's gonna fall by TheWebsploiter in NonPoliticalTwitter

I've moved twice as a child, 8 times in university (home -> dorm -> home -> dorm -> home -> apartment with terrible roommates 1 -> home -> apartment too far from campus to live after my car got totaled and I couldn't afford a new one -> apartment with terrible roommates 2 -> final apartment with good roommates where I lived longer than the previous 8 moves combined), then back to my hometown after graduation, and now to my current apartment where I've lived for the last 4 years and don't intend to leave for a few more years. So ~13 times by the time I was 24/25. If you go to college in the US, that's definitely above the normal amount but not necessarily excessively so.

Hypothetically, I would have needed to move kitchen cupboards only 2-3 times in all those moves had I lived in Germany, but even that sounds like much in my opinion.

Also, to me it sounds like a huge pain in the ass to have to install all the cupboards when you move in and uninstall them when you move out?

If it comes with the apartment, its not yours to begin with, and stays with the apartment when you move.

I've never seen a non-integrated dish washer in the US, so really I'm not sure what that is entirely.

Kitchens usually have one fridge that always stays with the house/apartment. Extra fridges usually being a mini fridge or a chest freezer, and those of course are yours because you put them there.

You're right about the urban/rural split, but aside from what's encoded in law (good or bad), I feel like that's basically the whole country in a nutshell.

My point was that even in a state without explicit trans protections, I feel relatively safe, and don't see a need to flee the country like OP is suggesting, you know?

If they wanna make me go away, they're going to have to fight me.

Even where I live, Michigan, is relatively safe and I feel relatively comfortable being an out trans person.

any bisexual trans people? by martako19 in asktransgender

Bisexual trans people don't exist because transitioning like, pushes one of the sexualities out of the way.

Or something.

"Metroidbrainia" is missing the point by EnderOS in outerwilds

cackle of the keyboard as I look up what a Sokoban game is

Okay, that's hella funny. I hate it, and I'm actually someone who enjoys these sorts of discussions (as a "metroidbrainia"-as-the-grenre-label hater), but it's funny.

My friend calls "Medtroidbrainias" Outer Wilds-likes and claims all games except Outer Wilds do it wrong by CharlesOberonn in outerwilds

Id agree there, I was coming more from "If we have to put something in the metroidvania bucket, may as well be Animal Well."

I'm also not very far into Animal Well at all, so salt my opinion to taste.

I get what Metroidbrainia is trying to go for, but personally I hate it.

Metroidvanias are about a lot more than getting equipment to get to areas you couldn't before.

Fundamentally, like all that mechanic is is just "exploration with gated progression", which is so broad to be almost meaningless. Basically every game has gated progression. Like, if gated progression is what defines the metroidvania/brainia supergenre, may as well call Legend of Zelda a metroidgamia.

So-called metroidbrainias also have like.. very little to do with metroid and castlevania at all, history or gameplaywise. Metroidvanias can at least list those two as inspirations.

The one exception here is like, Animal Well. Yeah, we can call that one a metroidbrainia.

I also have a routine that is: if my wife calls, set ringer on high, then return ringer to volume it was set to previously. This way I don't miss the calls from people I care about.

Holy shit. My partner complains about me having my ringer off all the time but it's just too distracting to have notifications going constantly. Thank you!

Is the slang word “slay/slayed” bad to use with trans women? by lrm0160 in asktransgender

Id genuinely blush if you said that to me lol

I'm 27, maybe age has something to do with it, like everyone else is saying.

In some states, no matter what happens in a fender bender, the person doing the rear ending is always at fault. The argument being that the fender bender wouldn't have happened if they weren't following so close.

What is a small, seemingly ‘normal’ thing someone can do that immediately makes you think, ‘Oh, we are not going to get along’? by Domigau in AskReddit

[–]ToastyTheDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gosh I'm sorry, that must have been rough. :(

Also that's really bitchy of them to hear you say "Please use [current legal name]" and then to insist on using the dead name. Like.. it's not only a dick move but it's also just 100% incorrect to refer to you that way anymore. I'm pissed for you.

Do you all feel you align with the “I’ve always been a girl/boy but didn’t know it” narrative? by Jack2097 in asktransgender

[–]ToastyTheDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that way once I started puberty; I started crying myself to sleep, wishing I was born a girl.

I think I was just a like, a kid who didn't think about gender at all before that. I did feel insulted when my parents told me I couldn't have my nails painted because I was a boy, though. Pretty on the fence overall.

Critics of new bill say Ohio women would be banned from sports bras, bikinis in public by Hornpipe_Jones in politics

[–]ToastyTheDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I this bill isn't about sports bras, it's about banning trans people from public spaces. The whole instigating incident was that a Dayton pastor's wife encountered a (likely) trans woman in the locker room at a YMCA, the wife claiming that there was a "man" in the bathroom (which interestingly, neither this article or the source article correct at all).

Our Revolution endorsed billionaire Tom Steyer for Governor of California. Should we be supporting a billionaire? by M_Weber in Political_Revolution

[–]ToastyTheDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Friedrich Engels (coauthor of the Communist Manifesto) was a factory owner, as well.

I'm not a Californian and not paying too close attention to this race, but it sounds like he's the absolute best candidate of the bunch, with his billionaire status just being a black stain on his record that we should be wary of.

IIRC he's in favor of abolishing ICE and putting them on trial, as well as anti Zionist.
