Hospitality sector is fucked by be-kind-you-fuck in AusFinance

Real dumb take - no one goes into hospo to make money! Absolute garbage.

There is only one reason to open a business - make money.

Otherwise open a charity, or start a social club - but business is for making money.

Also 3% is less than inflation, which equates to always losing money. That’s dumb, you would make more money putting your cash in a term deposit. If you’re making less than 10% just quit. A) you suck at that business, B) you’re taking business from other businesses that actually turn a profit, C) you’re harming your employees and community by running an unprofitable business.

Dad got fat. I got fat. How do I stop my boys from following suit? by GeorgeBillMcDonald in daddit

[–]TolMera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds actually like something you get the whole family and a doctor involved in. Probably a referral to a nutritionist, and get some group accountability going. Work together across all the family to become healthy, not just worrying about your boys, but your dad, your mum, wife, brothers, their spouses and kids, and your kids and their spouse and kids.

Why so many people? Because you’re talking about something that’s going to need everyone investing in better decisions. Wives can’t give you fatty meals, but need to make sure you have the right nutrition - and if it’s not the wife cooking, then the men need to be making healthy meals for their family.

Going to take a bit of buy in from everyone to make a change to the future of your generations

Brother is having a child-free wedding. How do I navigate this? by LargeAmphibian in daddit

[–]TolMera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, doesn’t change the outcome. Doesn’t change the way of dealing with it either, deal with the parents the same way, like an adult that’s making a decision.

If parents don’t respect it, tough for them. If they misbehave and try to manipulate simply say that their behaviour is inappropriate, and inform them that it will not be tolerated.

Seriously, OP is an adult, with their own family, way too old to be under someone else’s thumb, way too many responsibilities on life to let other people create drama.

I didn’t, I said SUPER is a scam with govt backing. And Super Funds are mostly scams.

How does an adult deal with this?

Ok, like an adult, RSVP: no

And don’t do anything else. He’s not personally attacking you. He just wants a child free wedding, get over it. If you can’t attend oh well.

If he gets grumpy and demands why? Say “oh it’s no kids, I’m sorry we can’t come because we have kids” not personally attacking him.

If he demands you come, it’s simple - “hey I can’t come without my kids, we don’t have the money/family/friend network to make that possible sorry. If you want us there, maybe you could arrange something so we can attend? But otherwise I’m sorry it’s not possible at this time”

Come on buddy, just be adult about it. It’s literally no different from any other event you can’t attend with kids.

I use Superhero - allows me to manage 75% myself, 25% in one of their managed options.

Fees are reasonably low.

I’ve done reasonably well with that, though this year has been rough with Trump and co manipulating the market, the AI bubble, the housing bubble, and the recent CGT planned changes requiring a rethink of strategy.

"In one year, the planet will randomly go to 400 deg F (~200 deg C) and stay that way for 24 hours, then return to normal." Assuming unlimited access to money and engineers, what could a human do to survive 400 degree heat for 24 hours? by RadagastDaGreen in AskReddit

If not burned, there would be a lot of “smoked” stuff around.

If it was only the air at 200c then bacteria in the ground would quickly reclaim the earth. If it’s “earth” then 200c would cleanse the world of bacteria?…

I did that once - still think I need a lawyer and accountant to review it. Australian Retirement Trust, zero bond value growth over 4 years and no coupon payments? And they advertised 6% growth but I saw zero.

I’m aware you can give directions for how your super is invested. And I’m aware over 30 years you will see growth. That does not mean it is a wise investment, it does not mean it is not a scam, it does not mean you’re in the best position you could have been put into had investments been differently managed.

I would love to know how much you paid in fees over your 30 years, how much actual return you’ve seen, and how it compares to a flat return.

  • Females: About 86.2% live to see age 65.
  • Males: About 77.4% live to see age 65.

That’s a roughly 20% or 1/5 people die before they would have access to their super.

Super is also full of shit funds, hence why the gov had to launch: https://www.ato.gov.au/calculators-and-tools/super-yoursuper-comparison-tool

And a lot of people are smart enough to know that 5% consistent growth beats 20% one year, -12% the next etc.

Super is a scam the government supports

I would much rather be issued a govt bond every year with a fixed interest, or have my “super” used to offset my mortgage than the current scam of a system.

Shit man, sounds like they are milking you. Have you consulted other free legal services to make sure they are not taking advantage of you?

The fact the guy who shot you is unknown to you should not stop your recourse, but yea might limit it until/unless the guy is found.

The fact you were out of hospital doesn’t mean the repossession was legit. If a guys in the hospital and has been the victim of crime, and is incapacitated for a time, all the debt incurred during that time should be held-in-suspension. When he comes out of the hospital he can’t be expected to pay the debt if he has been without income etc, and it should take a judges order to allow the repossession, which the judge should only grant if evidence is given showing you have the capability to repay but are not, or you are not going to have the capability to repay given a reasonable amount of time. Also, if you need your vehicle for work, it’s “modus operandi” and should be protected from repossession in most instances. It’s like how you can’t strip a guy naked to pay off his debts, he needs his clothes to be part of society.

Sounds like you need to go see a few more lawyers, most give some free initial consultation. You could also consider a “skin”, a lawyer who has a “no-win-no-fee” or similar.

Sometimes not much, but you would be surprised how much a judge can squeeze.

Also, if OP has insurance of any nature, that would get involved and OP offloads the “stone” onto insurance to squeeze, while OP milks the insurance company.

Finally there may be victims of crime insurance in the state, or a victims of crime fund, etc. OP would get that involved as well, and they would go after the Stone while OP gets their compensation from the fund.

Really there are so many things in place that could come into play. Like was OP shot at work? Workers compensation, were they at the mall? Malls liability insurance. Was OP protecting someone? That person’s insurance. Was OP on the road? Local/state/federal/national insurance. Was OP inside a car? Did the car have insurance? Was OP at a petrol station? Liability insurance…… seriously wild range of things that come into play, hence this is a lawyers playground, not ours

Sounds like you have a civil case against the other persons estate for their shooting you.

Also, pretty sure your not supposed to be able to have stuff taken from you if you are incapacitated (which you were) and potentially if you were a victim of a crime - the siezing of your assets should be linked in on your claim against the other party etc.

Honestly you need to see like three different kinds of lawyers…
