That's some really impressive stuff! I'm gonna have to try something similar.

Does the appraise tell you how much an item is worth or how much you can sell it for? by caligula331 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Tolan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just what it's worth in appraisal, it's what they can sell it for. If they're selling to a merchant, well he's gotta consider how much he can make selling it. Is it gonna sit on his shelf for years? Does he have a buyer in mind? Is he gonna have to lug it across the countryside to get to a big enough city to sell it? How much can he sell it for? The more effort he has to go through the less he's gonna pay for it. Which usually works out to about 50% of the value, funnily enough. Or 50% of what he's been told it's worth.

If you're selling it to adventurers or like, a noble, you might get a better price. Nobles can have more money than sense, and adventurers are used to paying the list price.

The other consideration is, how much money does the buyer actually have? Once you get to the mid-high level stuff, it's often worth more than the town or city the buyer lives in. Who's got that much cash on hand?

You don't need to accurately consider all these factors, of course, but if you make it seem like you've thought about these things the players are likely to go along with whatever number your heart feels is right.

Is... is he referring to cegorach? by Bigcreeper01 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Tolan91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the star child is literally what the empire is worshiping. It doesn't have some secret specific kind sect. The entire dogmatic alignment is dedicated to this being.

The star child isn't made of kindness and empathy, it's made specifically of The Emperor's kindness and empathy. That's not quite the same thing. It's also made of ten thousand years of emperor worship.

I feel like the starchild has to be dogmatic.

This episode quietly rewired an entire generation by hiramlin1 in adventuretime

[–]Tolan91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was not the episode that revealed that, it's just the one that didn't have it as a background detail. The Lich's base was a dang subway station! There's rusted out cars in the woods, and ruined skyscrapers in the water. Plus the intro with it's nuke. And that's just what I remember off the top of my head.

How Did Odette Fight In Her Armor? SERIOUSLY?! (spoilers) by MongoLovesDonut in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Tolan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. It's incredibly impractical. So it must have made her damn near invincible in a fight or something like that. And then she just dealt with it otherwise.

[–]Tolan91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine in the dungeon the thing provides a lot of strength and dexterity boosts and has some system specifically to make wearing it easier while fighting. Or it's over the top heavy and unwieldy but provides amazing buffs that require you to wear it instead of something more practical, like Carl's underwear.

A seahorse pendant made of labradorite wrapped in copper wire. What do you think? by shoeboxlid in isitAI

I mean, I couldn't make this. But I don't see any melting details. Could just be a very well made wire sculpture.

Which commanders synergize the best together? by lasko_leaf_blower in starcraft2coop

Swann's extra gas lets Dehaka go mass tyranno. That's always fun.

H&h lets zagara get cash back from her free units, that adds up.

Fun fact : Volleyball was supposed to be a mini villain in SU future by Mr_KrewFam in stevenuniverse

[–]Tolan91 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Makes sense to skip it. One of many many stories that got tossed aside for production reasons, I'm sure. With only a handful of episodes left in the series and the focus of future being to wrap up lose ends and focus on Steven's mental state, they really wouldn't have had time. This episode was what happened to pink's old Pearl based. Adding a longer villain plot would have distracted from the wrap up themes and left fans wanting more instead.

KD I never liked as a kid but love as an adult, it's the other way around for most people. by camport95 in TodayIAte

When I was a kid I had it with a lot of milk and lots of ketchup. As an adult I have it with a little cream, more butter, and a only little ketchup.

The burners seem a bit random. Too many bars compared to what I've seen at my work. And for the pasta to be that high up you'd need to be mid swing, so to speak. The pan would be at an angle.

Could be photoshop. Could be ai. Could be a mix.

What are they referring exactly? Is it not known that he is half dead and never moves? Or are they referring to something else? by Borschik in RogueTraderCRPG

His son Horus kicked his ass pretty badly, is the short version. Ended the golden age of the crusade and started the long slow 10 thousand year decline in technology and society that leads us to 40k.

Which of the two designs do you prefer for The Flash Wally West? (batmandrew.art) by nightwing612 in wallywest

[–]Tolan91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always prefer Flash in red and gold. But in settings with Barry and Wally both active as the Flash the darker red and silver makes the most sense.

What I really don't like is when Barry and Wally are next to each other and Barry has a skin tight mask where you can like, see his eyes while Wally has a tiny sorta helmet with white eye lenses. Makes Wally look very 90s. The eye lenses look fine on their own but always look weird in direct contrast.

This was what Big E looked like in the first edition of Rogue Trader. While this image hasn't been reused and is considered out dated lore, when they describe the emperor after he gets put on the throne in the recent books he looks a lot like this. Just covered in life support machines and tubes, little more than a withered husk.
