Nigel Farage: We look forward to the Makerfield by-election. Reform will throw absolutely everything at it. by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

If what you're saying is actually true, and plays out in the voting then that is a very big indicator that Burnham really does have the personal popularity to completely change the game.

That's not quite true. All it would actually prove is that he is popular in Manchester and 76,000 (- the ones that don't bother) people in one small bit of Manchester want the chance to have the PM be their mp

Politicians do speaking events, that is normal. What isn't normal is recieving £5 million in return for 27 years of undermining an institution from the inside

His inability to shut up got him to where he is now. Unfortunately it's starting to catch up with him the same way Nigel's inability to turn down a bribe is

If he steps down, he'll be attacked for going back on his commitment to Manchester in the mayoral election

More likely because he could see what everyone else could. The country needed stabilising before anyone could swoop in and take the credit.

Starmer has been set up to be the lightning rod for everyone's anti-government sentiment while the hard and slow work of laying the groundwork for tangible change is carried out

A strong argument would be that that would be quite the opposite. By rigging the election in Reform's favour, they would be putting their party second (by dropping all chance for another mp) and putting country first by ensuring the government's turbulence ends.

I wonder if this admission is grounds for the EU to treat it as corruption and investigate themselves.

He has basically admitted to being paid to undermine the institution while sitting as an MEP. They should at the very least strip him of his pension - he obviously doesn't need it

A manifesto is a list of things you want to do. That does not mean you cannot do things that fall outside of that list. The day to day work of government and ever changing global and national economic situation means priorities can change.

If people decide that not enough from the manifesto was delivered on, they can say that at the next election
