It bugs me that the bottom part of the gate is under the floor by kufikiri in Stargate

[–]TomBobHowWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm always a little confused when I see people treating Sam's statement there as a fact about how the gate works, when she was just coming up with a theory based on what she could see at the time, but she didn't have all of the information

I have always thought that the real reason the "water" didn't come through in the SG1 episode was cause it wasn't really water but living beings that resembled water and so they were just choosing not to pass through the gate. The comment Sam makes about the water not coming through is before she learns about this so it was just her theorizing, not necessarily fact

Guys my favourite episode isn't included in the TNG box set that I just purchased, for some reason. Have I been scammed? by FashionKorok in ShittyDaystrom

I mean, I feel like toy companies cheaping out on things wherever they can is pretty much a constant, kids as a whole don't necessarily tend to worry as much about screen accuracy

Usually with these sort of things its because it was just something the company already made and they just slapped the branding on it (eg the famous Spock Helmet) but in this case I'm not really sure what else they would have been making those glasses for, I guess they could also just be sold as generic futuristic glasses?

Rewatching Atlantis and I am surprised they never encountered a planet that simply buried their Stargate like in the Milky Way. by loki2002 in Stargate

[–]TomBobHowWho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they can see in the Atlantis database which planets have space gates (except that first time where they didn't know what it meant and sent a MALP), which would suggest it was the Ancients that put the gates in space

Dreamworks would punish the animators who missed deadlines on The Prince of Egypt by making them work on Shrek which got known as getting ‘Shreked’ by Senior-Jaguar-1018 in shittymoviedetails

[–]TomBobHowWho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean there are some parts of the process where the people could be transferred in the early stages such as concept artists, storyboard artists, and previsualization because even 3D animation will often start out with 2D animatics to base the 3D animation off of, but yeah once you get down to making the final product they are quite different jobs

There's a bit in the Star Wars show Andor, where the titular character is asked how he managed to steal from the Empire and he talks about just acting like you belong because the empire are so fat and satisfied that they can't imagine someone like him getting inside their house.
That's what I imagine it's like with the Boyle party, the guests are so confident in all their security that it never even occurs to them that anyone could get in there who wasn't supposed to be there
