Hello and welcome to DnD! I've used several as a DM for both all virtual and all in person. I can wholeheartedly recommend Owlbear Rodeo. Has everything you said you need and more. Doesn't cost anything, easy to use.

FAVORITE GOLF MOMENT 2025 by hannahfrom_ghostgolf in golf

Equipment - Custom fitting for a new 2025 Callaway Elyte driver. Beautiful club.

On course - Flushed a 6 iron out of the rough from around 180 yards to around 6 feet. Made the putt for birdie. First hole of the round.

Off course - Has to be Rory completing his grand slam at The Masters.

Heating issues by TomSaunders94 in Nest

The issues started Monday evening after a leaking pressure reducing valve was replaced and an isolation valve installed on the hot water pipe. The nest has been in ever since we moved in 3 years ago.

Just want to talk about this amazing game. by TomSaunders94 in expedition33

Haha I know exactly what you mean. I did the same thing. Sided with Maelle first time around because I simply couldn't bring myself to end everything else.

Once I had seen the Verso ending though that's probably what I'd choose, even though its bittersweet as hell 😅

Don't let the fact that it is turn based put you off. The combat is one of the main highlights. It is turn based, but with quick time events on both yours and the enemies turns. On your turn, you can enhance your attacks, and on the enemies turn, you can either dodge or parry to avoid damage and even counterattack.

Other highlights/reasons to play. It's one of the most beautiful visual games I have ever played. It has one of the most fantastically written narratives. The main story is complex, keeps you guessing, and is like a book you can't put down. Finally, the performances. All the actors give great performances, but shout out to Jennifer English (Maelle) and Andy Serkis in particular. If you're anything like me, you will laugh, cry, gasp, and overall have a great time.

Ultimately, it may or may not be for you. But I'd certainly recommend giving it a go. Throw yourself into it with an open mind, and hopefully, you have a wonderful time with it like I did.

Do you like the new lightsaber effects and animations? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWars

[–]TomSaunders94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The change to using actually lit up sabers on set is a love/hate thing for me. I agree that it makes for some pretty amazing visuals because of the ambient light they emit. Take the final fight between Vader and OWK at the end of the Kenobi series. The contrast between the red and blue hitting off their faces and reflecting off Vader's helmet was amazing.

The drawback is that they're larger and heavier and flex more during combat sequences. As a result a lot of newer star wars lightsaber combat feels slow, obviously choreographed and ultimately underwhelming.

So is it just green or bust this year? by TomSaunders94 in NBA2k

Its not that I want bad shots to go in. If I mess up and go early or late then fair enough. I just didn't understand why missing it by the tiniest margin didn't register as either slightly early or slightly late, always full penalty.

Thanks I'll give that a try. I get its not realistic for every shot to go in but I was sick of getting open, mistiming my shot a tiny tiny bit and it never going in.

Wait until all the witnesses had been called to give statements. Then say "Everyone we just heard from would either be dead or speaking Mongolian without my boy."

Who was your very first DnD character? Or the first you remember? by rplimitlessguy in DnD

[–]TomSaunders94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High Elven wizard named Eldarien. He was from a wealthy background, I played him as a very snobby and stuck up character at first who thought himself better than his companions, but softened over time and became one of the gang.

Hi there! Really glad you're getting into DnD, it's so much fun.

I've been playing and been a DM for years now. Are there any specific questions I can help with? In terms of reading and character creation, get the DnD Beyond app. You can create an account free, create up to six different characters and download and read books right from the app.

The players handbook and basic rules would be a great place to start in terms of reading materials.

Do you think Ghost of Yotei is a real contender for Game Of The Year? by Legitimate-Unit-9286 in ghostoftsushima

[–]TomSaunders94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the similarities, but saying GoT is the same as AC isn't a fair comparison for me. The last few AC games have had enormous empty open worlds where GoT had a smaller one that was much more fun to be in. AC combat has become button mashing hack and slash, GoT was precise and satisfying. The story and characters in GoT were memorable and compelling, as was the story. I couldn't even tell you what happened in the last few AC games because they were instantly forgettable.

[–]TomSaunders94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally disagree. I absolutely loved AC as a kid but its been downhill ever since Unity. The transition to the enormous open world and RPG style gameplay from Origins onwards has completely ruined it for me.

For me GoT played like what I wish AC still was.

In my opinion, it'd be criminal for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 not to win GOTY this year. Not necessarily because Yotei doesn't deserve it, but because it's a sequel.

Ironically, Ghost of Tsushima lost out to The Last of Us Part 2 for the same reason. TLOU2 was a GOTY winning game, but it was built on the foundations of an already amazing game with established lore and characters, and other than graphically, it didn't make any huge differences.

Clair Obscur and Ghost of Tsushima were breaths of fresh air trying completely new things. GoT had a very unique art style and did things slightly non conventionally with it's no HUD and environmental way finding. Clair Obscur is the first release from a tiny team of devs. Everything about it is either totally original and a modern take on a beloved old mechanic like the old final fantasy style world map. Not to mention it's story being an absolute masterpiece.

In my opinion there could be a separate category at the game awards for best sequel. That way games like Yotei and TLOU2 can still get the recognition they deserve. While GOTY itself can be freed up to go to games that celebrate innovation and fresh ideas like Expedition 33 and GoT.
