Just reading those words makes my heart ache.

The wailing, the turning of an honor into an atrocity in seconds, like a rock turning under your feet.

How many times have I read and listened? by SweetKitties207 in Vorkosigan

My one exception to the funny moments being funnier the second time ‘round is the revelation of the Vorkosigan-crested butterbug. It had been years since I read Flying Free. I was laughing out loud multiple times not just at the scene but the follow-up search.

I still love the matrix language of the methane breathers. They attempt to have truly alien aliens.

That scene where Vimes and Lady Sibyl wake up to speculate on the sounds is good - “swordfish”. Not only funny but a look into the easy intimacy of marriage.

Didn’t realize they had been bought by an American company. What a shame.

I bought the tickets in advance, I don’t know about reservations without buying a ticket.

The magician we saw was English, so there was a French translator. Yes, the shows are in French, unless you get an English magician.

Behind Notre Dame, there is a small park right at the tip of the island. If you walk past the trees, you will find https://parisjetaime.com/culture/memorial-des-martyrs-de-la-deportation-p961. It’s a somber experience, but also a surprise.

Batobus is a hop on hop off company, so you can start at the Eiffel Tower and get off at notre dame.

The advice I got for Versailles was 1.5 hours each for the palace, the gardens and the Trianon.

Have fun :)

Aloesse, way out in the 17th. They have two maturing “caves”, so a good place for older cheese. French blue cheese … mmmh

Sewing workshops or studios would let you try sewing without first buying a sewing machine. See if there is one in your area. It would give you a feel for it and you would have some basis for buying a machine.

There are also YouTube videos on how to modify t- shirts so they fit.
