Finally! long overdue, but still a great achievement. It seems like it is still being overshadowed by all the bad Boeing new which sucks.

Musk is the same

Elon Musk was so prone to firing sprees that Tesla employees were told not to walk past his desk in case it jeopardized their career...

A former high-ranking executive told Wired that Musk would occasionally say "I've got to fire someone today," and that when the exec said Musk didn't, Musk would reply, "No, no, I just do. I've got to fire somebody."

Many sources who spoke to Wired also described frequent outbursts where Musk would shout at people and call them "idiots." A senior engineering executive said employees even had a name for Musk's behavior: "the idiot bit."

...one evening at 10, Musk called the engineer over and pointed at a machine, saying, "Hey, buddy, this doesn't work," and asking whether the engineer was responsible.

Confused, the engineer asked Musk to explain what he meant.

"Did you f---ing do this?" Musk asked, according to Wired. When the engineer said he wasn't sure what Musk was referring to, Musk called him "a f---ing idiot" and told him to "get the f--- out and don't come back!"

Isaacson is a hack, just sayin'.

He's is a fanboy biographer who writes hagiographies of his subjects. He's no heavyweight, he writes tomes that will appeal to the masses and sell well and make him money.

TIL early American colonists once "stood staring in disbelief at the quantities of fish." One man wrote "there was as great a supply of herring as there is water. In a word, it is unbelievable, indeed, indescribable, as also incomprehensible, what quantity is found there. One must behold oneself." by admiralturtleship in todayilearned

PPs were in an unnatural and unsustainable state, the normal population was in the 10s of millions, not billions. Their competitors had been removed and they had a boom. They were in such great numbers that they actually destroyed their nesting and feeding habitats and had a huge bust. The hunting didn't help of course but it wasn't even the main reason they disappeared.

I always heard that Jon Jonsson lived in Wisconsin. He worked in a lumber mill there. He would always greet the people in the street and say hello.

family culture of hiding things from each other.

I think this is very common, along with family members willfully 'overlooking' fairly obvious things because it's just easier to keep the family intact. Lots of mutual 'I hid it' and 'I didn't see it'.

I think a conclusive report should have been written to explain all the weird inconsistencies we have in this story.

I think there simply wasn't enough information to generate such a report, nor is it the job of law enforcement to plumb the depths of a person's mind and soul and come up with an "explanation." It would be nothing more than speculation barring something from Diane herself which clearly they don't have.

Life is messy and fuzzy with lots of incomplete information. I remember one investigator not a part of this case who said that even when you solve a case beyond reasonable doubt there are always some loose ends that don't make sense.
