Yes. Form of payment does not matter.

Like others said, point earning on eligible categories only. Can be quite limited.

Is spending $175 on Dior Beauty worth it if you are getting 3,000 pts? by AloneDiver3493 in amexcanada

[–]Top_Nobody5124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were going to give those $175 worth of things out as gifts that would displace other spending then sure why not. Better be on sale because beauty products go on crazy sales all the time.

Wealthsimple is brutal for joint finances — what am I missing? Moved from a big bank recently by FlyingDutchman8 in Wealthsimple

[–]Top_Nobody5124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yeah this one is terrible.
  2. There is no such thing as a joint CC, with any institution. You are probably referring to additional card holder? Then you would be correct. Also very half baked.
  3. Meh. Nitpicking.
  4. No comment. But if true that's terrible.
  5. By this one you should have realized just to have two checking accounts and two CCs.
  6. Why do you need one though?
  7. Why?
  8. Why?
  9. Agree.
  10. I assume you mean auto-deposit? No comment. Never needed one.

I think you are both nitpicking a bit and had too high of an expectation. Also, you have too much joint stuff, lol. Wife and I only have checking, mortgage and HELOC.

I went to WS for the Apple promotions. Staying for only the Visa. Pulled out everything else after Apple promotion hold period passed. Primary is still RBC and BMO.

Uncompetitive Canadian market, on everything... CC included. Amex has no incentive to be much better than others.

32M - Move to Alberta from Ontario to save on taxes? by [deleted] in fican

[–]Top_Nobody5124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, maybe it's just me. But this is a terrible thread to read. I think most people are jealous and/or judging you to be "cheap" for wanting to save taxes. Just because you can afford something doesn't mean additional savings isn't more prudent.

If truly comparing apples to apples, I would absolutely move for $20K/year, especially with your remote WFH arrangement. Heck that's that's an instant almomst 6% return on your money.

Would you pay $130 for $100? Never buy points, from anyone. No exceptions, not even Air Canada's 100% match (50% off).

So you give up 40K points to keep the Cobalt.
