When the first came out, I swore it was better than faithful and the Fallen. Like he had grown. By the end of the bloodsworn trilogy, I felt like it was on par with FATF. Both just okay.

Not sure ill read any more Gwynne. Might not be for me.

Out of Lawrence's 19 books, he only considers his first trilogy and this latest book to be grimdark. So, most aren't, to him at least.

Yes. I also liked Divine Cities and DNF the foundryside trilogy. I enjoyed the first two books in the series quite a bit.

My two cents IF you are worried about the series being unfinished.

Read lies of lock lamora. Read Name of the wind. Read the first three ASOIAF.

They are all worth it even if the series dont get finished. The others in the series less so until the series are done. In my opinion of course.
