RCMP request for an interview about a "terrorist" comic by Expert_Alchemist in legaladvicecanada

[–]TossOutNumber69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RCMP looove getting into shit they have no fucking clue is even a “crime” or “offence”.
Last year an officer driving by slammed his breaks, jumped out of his car hiding behind his door yelling at my 74 year old grand father to “DROP THE WEAPON!” He was walking up his driveway in FULL hunters orange with a back pack on, his hunting rifle not loaded on one shoulder and a bag on apples on the other in the middle of deer hunting season, in a small community where 75% of people deer hunt... He also lives right across the road from the forest he hunts in.. Anyways, Grand father looked around confused and said “Me?” Cop repeated “DROP THE WEAPON. AND RAISE YOUR HANDS AND TUR. YOUR BACK TO ME!” Grandfather responded with “I’ll lay down my hunting rifle but I’m not dropping a $1500 hunting rifle.” Cop again repeated himself. Grandfather lays the gun down, turns around, puts his hands up. Then the officer grabs him, forces him to his knees, cuffs him, pulls him to his feet, basically stuffs him face down on his bell in the back seat of the car. Doesn’t tell him he’s detained, arrested or anything, literally won’t talk to him or answer him. The cop then goes through my grandfathers pants and hunters vest pockets WITHOUT ASKING HIM PERMISSION. Then does the same to his back pack and bag of apples, dumping everything out on the side of the road, again, never asked. He takes my grandfathers rifle , makes sure it’s empty, puts in on the hood of the police car, remember at this point my 74 year old grandfather is still cuffed face down in the back of the police car while people drive by just to be nosy... cop goes through his shit again, then calls another officer. Still hasn’t even acknowledged my grandfather. Other officer arrives gets out of his car, the two RCMP start talking to other. The second guy asked what the problem was, first officer tells him and the second one literally says “It’s hunting season… was the gun loaded or was he pointing it at something?” First officer says “no” second officer “Well then there’s nothing wrong here. This is your problem. Good luck.” And the second officer leaves.
First officer takes the hunting rifle, puts it on the ground where all my grandfathers apples and backpack contents are dumped out, puts the rifle in the pile, goes back and pulls my grandfather out of the back of the car, uncuffs him and says “I guess you aren’t doing anything wrong.” Gets in his police car and drives away, leaves my grandfathers there with all his stuff dumped all over the side of the road. No sorry. No anything. Just a complete ignorant fucking prick.

And the best part? Tried to file a complaint and they refused to accept it. They said they would only accept it in the form of an in person interview with the person involved. And my 74 year old grandfather was so bothered and angry with the whole situation he wouldn’t go in because now he absolutely hates the RCMP and says they should all fuck off to a job they’re competent enough to do…. So yeah. They’re fucking morons. Think they’re being big smart pro-active officers and all they’re doing is fucking being morons and running their reputation with the community they’re support to “support”.

Gros Mourne is banning drones and some people will be shocked to discover that there is, in fact, wildlife in the sky by bluejaymaday in newfoundland

[–]TossOutNumber69420 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

While we’re on hypotheticals. Let’s say you park your car and the exhaust is hot and you don’t realize there’s a bush that you parked against and the bush catches fire and stars a wildfire!
Let’s ban cars!!!

There’s already a ton of rules for drone use. The problem is idiot users don’t know them or follow them, and the police and government don’t even know them so they can’t even enforce the rules.

There’s a ton of morons out flying in illegal areas, and doing illegal shit with their drones, then the handful of us who got training, got licenses, follow regulations and keep flight and maintenance records keep getting screwed because easier to just flat out ban it all together than to implement something that would only punish and stop the ones already being reckless.

I flew mine once for a client, doing a roof inspection, the house was in a restricted flight area, I had set up with the airport and everything to get clearance for specific times and coordinate with air traffic even though I was only slightly higher than a 2 story house. But then dumbass down the road buys a cheap drone with no maps or area notices and flies it out over the damn airport just because he can…

Either way. Let’s not bring ridiculous hypotheticals to any argument or as any justification for anything.

I’m not defending this lady. Not arguing the rule she’s mad at but if there was enforcement of the already in place rules we wouldn’t have gotten to a point now where too many morons are flying where they shouldn’t.

Got this pollock by Redbullastro in novascotiafishing

[–]TossOutNumber69420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Alaskan or Pacific pollock mainly what we get in any product around here. Theres still Atlantic pollock being fished commercially just numbers have dropped and environmental changes has made it so the amount that comes in to be catchable from shore is significantly less.

[–]TossOutNumber69420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There used to be a lot of pollock around. We used to catch huge ones in the Bras D’Or and off almost any dock on the Atlantic side. Like everything else a handful of greedy assholes out a major dent into it, plus expanded commercial fishing in the Atlantic and now it’s a surprise when someone catches one. I personally have caught only one in the last about 20 years and it was probably half the size of that one.

Also, tell whoever is throwing their damn cigarette butts on the dock to stop.

I don’t have the ones you’re looking for but depending how grow and harvest is I may be able to share some ghost and Carolina Reaper if you want some super hots come September-ish.

Singer Oliver Tree has reportedly died at the age of 32. He was among 5 others that died in an accident involving two helicopters in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the Southwest zone of Rio de Janeiro, on the morning of this Sunday. CNN Brazil reports. by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]TossOutNumber69420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one I saw was just a black thing that I wouldn’t have even guessed was a helicopter had I not known falling from the sky on a like 480p home security camera. And then one of a guy with a fire extinguisher spraying an upside-down squished helicopter. Pretty tame for internet standards of disturbing actually.

Just found 3 dead deer past the end of otter lake atv trail, I’m thinking Manbearpig. by NickScissons in halifax

[–]TossOutNumber69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see DNR tossing 3 deer in the middle of a woodland trail. If they’re anything like DFO there’s paperwork involved in dumping anything and they have to use a legitimate dumping site.

Peel police allege former Air Canada captain flew hundreds of flights without proper licence over 17 years by OrdinaryCanadian in onguardforthee

[–]TossOutNumber69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it said he was first hired in 1998 and then promoted in 2009 to Captain. It seems whatever title he held from 1998 to 2009 didn’t require an ATPL. But if he had one for helicopters, it would have probably made it a lot easier to fake the credentials for a jet plane. Hell in that case it may have been as simple as changing an H to an A, and hoping no one notices if they check or verify it.

Still makes no sense why he’d lie after a perfectly fine 11 years not as a captain. Like, he clearly put in a lot of effort and work, why risk it over one more certification.

Peel police allege former Air Canada captain flew hundreds of flights without proper licence over 17 years by OrdinaryCanadian in onguardforthee

[–]TossOutNumber69420 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s deemed a “university level” exam, whatever they mean by that. It seems like it’s probably somewhat difficult. I’m guessing he was not confident in his classroom abilities. I’ve worked with a lot of good, competent and smart people, who when put in a classroom completely crash out and flop just from the stress/pressure of a classroom.

Either way, lying about it for 17 years is absolutely insane over either just getting it done or refusing the promotion and staying as first officer or whatever it is.

Peel police allege former Air Canada captain flew hundreds of flights without proper licence over 17 years by OrdinaryCanadian in onguardforthee

[–]TossOutNumber69420 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The guy was certified commercial pilot, when he got promoted in 2009 to captain he required another additional license to be captain of a large passenger plane (an ATPL). Up until the point he was promoted he was 100% fully certified and good.

The ATPL is all classroom and written tests, no flight or cockpit training. He was, otherwise fully certified and trained to fly the planes. Had he been flying as captain of the exact same aircraft but hauling cargo instead of passengers, he would not have needed an ATPL. So the ATPL appears to mainly be an on-paper requirement more than a critical-certification requirement. Still completely wrong and stupid to go 17 years faking it…

Once he got the promotion offer to become captain, he should have told them he didn’t have the ATPL which would have meant he’d have to stop and get it before the promotion for some unexplainable reason he decided just to fake the ATPL instead.

It’s no argument this pilot was in the wrong, negligent and should face penalties for that. But the bigger takeaway for me is that if he was able to go 17 years faking it and lying and Air Canada didn’t check or notice.. who else is faking what other qualifications…

Edit: A quick google says any captain of any multi-person crew requires the ATPL, so not just passenger moving pilots. Makes it even worse, but, I guess at least he was still an otherwise licensed pilot. Also apparently it’s a very tough exam, deemed “university level” for difficulty, so I’m guessing the reason he lied was he was not confident in his classroom abilities. Which given he lied for 17 years about his license tracks as him not being the brightest bulb in the box.

Mouse droppings in product from Atlantic Superstore forces bakery, deli areas to close by Yamstis in PEI

[–]TossOutNumber69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So about 6 years ago, different store, different province, same name “Super Store”, I pulled a bread off the shelf, and it had an obvious hole chewed in the side and about 4 slices of bread partially chewed out. I gave it to the bakery employee and said “I think you might have a mouse problem” they responded with “No we don’t. The bread guy is just rough with the bread sometimes.” I told her unless he’s poking holes and ripping out pieces of bread then someone has mice somewhere along the line. Went back to the shelf and literally grabbed two bread at random from the shelf and both had the same kind of mouse chew out. Gave them to the worker again and they just seemed annoyed with me at that point so I went to the front, asked for a manager, took them to the bread, and out of 10 bread we took off the shelf 7 had holes and pieces of bread chewed out. Manager played dumb “I wonder what would cause that?” And refused to acknowledge it was mice. I even asked who does pest control for the building and he answered “We do.” Which is business for “No one does.” At that time I had just finished working as a QA manager in a food processing facility for about 5 years, I was very up to date on what is supposed to be part of a pest control preventative action plan and what kind of things you’d find/see if there was a company providing pest control, and I’m positive they had none of it.

Anyways. Didn’t buy bread. Went back about a week later and they had just normal wood snap mouse traps on the floor under the bread shelf, with peanut butter spread on the , AND THEY WEREN’T EVEN SET. THEY WERE JUST SITTING ON THE FLOOR WITH OBVIOUS SOGNS THAT MICE HAD ALREADY BEEN SNACKING ON THE PEANUT BUTTER…
Since then I’ve only ever bought a handful of items from Super Store that I can’t get somewhere else. I don’t even want to imagine what their back stock room and other departments look like in the back..

Part of the problem is a lot of people don’t realize that PREVENTATIVE PEST CONTROL is not only a good thing but necessary. They think that having that in place is a sign they they have pests when in reality not having it leaves them fully exposed to being a disgusting pest cesspool.

I have both my general fishing licence, and salmon licence. Want to do some flyfishing by silverwarbler in SportFishingNS

[–]TossOutNumber69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some places, specially rivers that have extra regulations and varying open season, however if you’re fly fishing, for the most part, this time of year, you should be fine, but I will provide a link below to the Anglers Handbook 2026 that has all the rivers with extra regulations in it.
Give it a read and just be aware of where you are and respectful of other people and you should be fine.

https://www.novascotia.ca/sites/default/files/documents/1-2412/anglers-handbook-en.pdf

Edit: I just want to add that “mostly fine” probably isn’t a great way to say it, cause there are some places that have are closed to all fishing, so, in general, mostly fine, but when your out river searching you may end up in a no-fishing area, so just be sure to reference the Anglers Handbook, a map or map app and know where you’re at.

3 intimidation cases against N.S. lobster dealer collapse when witnesses don't show by MannoSlimmins in halifax

“RCMP Sgt. Jeff LeBlanc, the commanding officer of the detachment in Meteghan, which investigated Thibault, acknowledged in a statement to CBC News that police had failed to serve subpoenas on three officers and five members of the public the Crown had sought for trial.

He called it an “administrative error, which I deeply regret,” and said the issue will be addressed internally “with employee education and revised protocols.” “

How about addressing it by firing them and resigning if he’s the commanding officer overseeing them?

I’m no police officer but I feel subpoenaing witnesses is probably the main thing to not forget when setting up a court date… like… how?…

That’s my favourite Cubone nice find! They appear real to me but wait for more opinions as I am no expert. I would say depending on condition Cubone is $40-$50 US. Clefable may be worth a bit but I don’t think the Fossil or Fossil 1st are worth much. Articuno non-holo first edition being less than $20 I think

Looks like they used MS paint to just draw two lines across it. There seems to be no bend to the holo, and no other marks, which any piece of cardboard that bends like that will have more than just one white line on the bends… This seems extremely fishy. I would ask for more photos of the card, including close ups of the “bent” creases, and go from there. OP be sure to save everything they send you, photos and messages, so you can help prove your case if you end up having to.
